Call of Duty: Black Ops III

View Stats:
Constant server lag and stutter. Hitching.
Please if anyone has been able to solve the insane amount of stutter that happens all the way through mp games. High fps and low ping but still get constant hitching and stutter from the servers.
Tonight ive played other COD games all are fine no lag or stutter, only bo3 has these issues.

The game is unplayable. Changing settings in game has no effect. PC is running great all latest drivers no other game is having these isssues. its unplayable right now.

It's usually RAM or because of a bottleneck, specs?

If your using nvidia GPU, disable shadowplay.

shadowplay isnt enabled I always disable it. In fact I never install gforce experience This is server lag.

This is the only mp game that has this much stutter and hitching lag.

I76700k 4.6 stable
16gb Ram
1080 gtx
windows 10 latest build.

Started to happen at the same time infinite warfare came out and the bo3 update at the time. Been like it ever since.

Fresh install of the game,
Fresh install windows.

AW is smooth
ghosts is smooth

u could try messing with the config.ini file, but be careful when doing it so u dont change too much or something too high or low...
and just bcoz another game runs smooth, it doesnt mean another 2nd game will do it, its like comparing CoD1 to bo3.... coD is 1 older, hence it dont need such a good pc or configuration. while a new game might need some finetweaks..
u got a way better pc than me but i have no stutters or lag at all, only time i have lag are if the host has a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ internet...

i just found this after some google aswell, which seems rare for people to use...

this can be changed in config-ini file.

SerializeRender (0, 1, or 2) -- 0 use two threads, one thread update frame N while the second render N-1. 1 concatenate update and render. 2 concatenate update render and frame presentation. 0 is the default for the best performance, 1 and 2 improve latency but require a powerful CPU. Do not change from 0 unless you have serious stuttering/multithreading problems.

what it means, i have no clue about but might be worth to check since it mentioned stuttering..

this contains other informations but might still prove useful. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=549105008

SR 1 or 2 may help but ive only really seen it help old systems. Newer ones not so much. Imo it can all depend on several factors. It won't do any damage though and you can completely reverse it.
You can also try messing with the videomemory in the config file. Try .75, .85 or 1.

Forget about your other games, they have no barring on BO3.

You could have software installed that BO3 simply doesn't like just cause it didn't happen before doesn't really mean much. Ive seen software get updated or even BO3 get updated and found out it was software that was causing the issue. Why all of a sudden, who knows.

Open task manager, under start up tab, disable any programs. Test game and see if it's working. If it works then you have a program that's conflicting with the game/Steam.

If nothing works, list what software you have installed? Some software does not show up in the task manager, you may just have it installed or you could actively be using it. Some have to even be turned off/disabled in the software itself.

the game has large lag spike constantly you can see it in the lag meter. Those ini tweaks have no effect on my game at all. The lags and stutters are server based. They are always worse when someone is on the game with a very high ping. a game can be fairly smooth with a few stutters then someone joins with a 200+ ping and the game starts to stutter and hitch constantly.
I have no software installed different to when the game ran well before infinite warfare came out.
different video drivers dont change anything. even using different sound devices have no change in the lag.

just had 4 games in a row with no stutter and why because no players were in the lobby with pings over 80.
Join another lobby with two people with over 80 pings back to lag and stutter

Again though, any software can be causing any number of issues even if the software has always been there. Updates is what is causing this, similar to what happened with AVG. The update could come from the game or any program running on your system.

I am not saying this is what is happening with you but to many ppl keep ignoring the software on their computer because it was there then something happened. The something happened is likely a update from the software/game that's on your computer. Doesn't matter if it was the game or some software that updated, what's important is finding the software that's causing the issue. I am not syaing this is your issue, it's simply what typically is going on with peoples computers.

Sounds like a server issue or a routing issue. There is no fix for routing other than 2 possibilities. New modem or router, might help. The other and strongest option is changing providers.
This type of issue can come after a update. I have personally seen this with my own connection. Be fine for awhile then a update came, never was the same. This would happen for various games but it was a lot more noticeable in BO series cause I believe their servers aren't very good and they're simply aren't enough of them. Im sure coding plays are part in there somewhere.

I went from CenturyLink to Spectrum, what a difference. Speed and overall connection was like 10x better. BO3 became much smoother, I am referring to lag/ping. Even when 100 or 200 pingers came in, I don't even feel or notice it compared to before. I hardly ever go above 80 and im typically between 40-60 ping.

My ping in game is always around 30-45 yes it has spikes which seems to effect everyone in game at the same time. I have a very minimal windows 10 running with as few programs running and services running. It maybe is just literaly the quality of the games i get matchmaked into. Most games have people with very high ping now so many players stuttering and rubberbanding all over the map, I do think the lag compensation must have been tweaked in a patch too as again before infinite warefare came out I never did see stuttery players. There was no rubberbanding for me at all.

Again just played 4 games in a row with no stutter or hitching because everyone was under 85 ping only one person had a 85 ping. next game a player jinxy or something like that joined with a 165 ping and the game stutters. Every time its like this pings over around 85-90 seem to cause havock in the games. The lag compensation must be bugged.
This dude just said RAM causes server lag and bad ping from other players......LMFAO.
