Zombies Chronicles issue
So here is the situation: I have a friend who shared his steam library with me and I did the same. He owns Call of Duty Black Ops 3 and i like to play it. He shared it with me so I could play it, but I do not own it. When the pre-order for Zombies Chronicles went live, I tried to purchase it but since I do not own the game I could not. Knowing that my friend owns the game I decied to purchase it as a gift and gave it to him. The process was a success and he now owns Zombies Chronicles. The thing is I did not see Zombies Chronicles being shared with me in my DLC section of Call of Duty Black Ops 3. Now I'm not sure if maybe I will be able to use it once it is released June 15th but as of now there is no sign that this DLC has been shared with me. I would appreciate if someone could clear this up for me. Thanks in advance.

If I recall correctly they don't allow DLC sharing, so even if you have it shared you won't be able to play it if you don't own the DLC yourself.

Well I have access to all of Call of Duty Black Ops 3, so like zombies, multiplayer, campaign. So that is indeed not true.

I can confirm that you can play zombies and multiplayer on family sharing. You can play the maps, but for things like the whimsical gobblegums you can't access those unless you purchased the dlc packs on your account

Zombies, Multiplayer and Campaign are not considered DLC. Thats why you're able to share them.

Im not sure how it works with cross PC sharing but I know that when I share with my other accounts so I could open the triple played multiple times it allowed me to play on DLC maps. I don't know if its because of it being shared on the same PC or not.

Just buy the game instead.

From what I understand, DLC can be shared, but it is ultimately up to the publisher. For some games, DLC will not work, only the base game.

For everything else:
Who owns and can access the DLC and in-game content associated with a shared title?
A guest will have access to the lender's DLC, but only if the guest doesn't also own the base game. Guests may not purchase DLC for a base game they don't own. Any player may purchase, trade, earn, or otherwise acquire in-game content while playing a game, but in-game items cannot be shared between accounts. These items remain the property of the account that purchased or acquired them, whether borrowing or lending the base game.

The Whimsical GGs are DLC purchase bonuses. You can have the DLC packs installed, and they'll let you play the maps no problem. However, because the DLCs aren't marked as purchased on your account, things like Whimsical GGs are not eligible.

But just to clarify Axel, you have created multiple accounts on the same pc that can share DLC?
axel Jun 8, 2017 @ 2:18pm
It might just be because its not playable yet. If thats the case just wait until its released then try. If not and you can't play it at all then you're screwed unless your friend gives you that money back.

@Den. Yes I have. And I can confirm that DLC sharing on a single PC does work. I'm just not sure about on different PCs across possibly 2 different IP addresses.
American_Hero454 Jun 8, 2017 @ 2:21pm
ok well I will wait until the release day to see what happens, But one last thing, can you tell me the process of how i could get my money back just in case?
axel Jun 8, 2017 @ 2:22pm
I'm not sure about through Steam. The only way I know of is if your friend is willing to give you the money since you just bought him/her the Zombies Chronicles DLC pack.

If you have the DLC installed on a computer, any account that you have set up to share with the original account does allow you to play the DLC maps. However, the bonus items that are available for Black Ops III's DLCs are not eligible for sharing. Whimsical GGs are DLC purchase bonuses. Even if you have all the DLCs installed and it's not the original account, you would be able to access the base game, and all the DLC maps. But Whimsicals are not eligible. You would have to purchase the base game and all the DLCs if you desire to use the Whimsicals.

Ok I see, I will be able to play this DLC soon on my account because I can log into my friend's account on this current PC, correct?
