He does have a few patterns, though they are somewhat random.

The Flying Kicks always come from behind you and from the side, and are angled to hit if you are airborne. Just watch for him to puff into existence from either side, that's going to be a kick. Jump over it.

The Hammer always comes from directly above. If you see him above you, move to the side as fast as possible.

After the Hammer, he will stand in place for a good few seconds. This is the time you should wail on him as hard as you can. Get in there and hack him to pieces with your sword as fast as possible. (If you've got the perk that lets you regain health when you land sword attacks, this is a great chance to get some health back.)

From the Standing Still position, he'll do one of two extremely telegraphed attacks.

1: He'll point his finger at you for a second or two, then start firing bubbles. Get to the maximum range of your shuriken and let the shuriken buzzsaw him as much as you can.

2: He'll do a crouching animation, then do a shoryuken into the air. THIS IS A MASSIVE DAMAGE MOVE, AVOID AT ALL COSTS. At the peak of the Shoryuken, he'll vanish again, and the cycle starts over. Sometimes he'll go back to doing kicks, sometimes he goes straight to the hammer, I haven't figured out what makes him go straight to Hammer.

Well, you should beat the gorilla first, then.
Then you will have acces to more areas, since the gorilla is basically the main story.
More areas = more orbs.
