FIX: Unable to launch (GameLauncher.bat problems)
EDIT: Pacholíček has made an up-to-date version that should work for everyone! Including 64bit Win 10. Get it here.

Ever encountered problems launching Echelon: Wind Warriors? Even when run as adminstrator You couldn't get it to work? Well I have the answer! My friend Spex580 agreed to check the GameLauncher.bat with me to find out what's wrong.

We ended up modifying the .bat quite heavily, but now it should create the necessary registry entry if needed, and skip straight to launch if it already excist. I tested it on Windows 7 and it worked perfectly. It also should work on Windows XP (Not tested since I don't have XP.)

It's really simple to use:
  1. Download using This Link[www.dropbox.com]
  2. Move it to the game folder, overwriting the original .bat
  3. Run the game as adminstrator (It needs the priviledges to write the key)
  4. You're done!

The custom .bat "Cannot find Options.exe/Game.exe". Thanks for trying though.

Let's not give up just yet. If I'm correct, it is about a single extra line... We'll see.

Ok. I removed the line that looks for Options.exe. Test it out and see what happens.

EDIT: If it still doesn't work, try to run the game straight from its exe (Game.exe). It may work.

Unfortunately I get the following message when trying to download your Wind Warriors *.bat file: "GameLauncher.bat is malicious and Chrome blocked it" and there is only 1 option: "dismiss" - what can I do? ... or could you be so kind and post the bat file content here in the forum (it's not that big) so I can insert it in the original manually?

Thx for your efforts anyway :)

No problem. I put it here in pastebin[pastebin.com] to avoid a leghty post. Not sure about Chrome's blockers though...

Thx - sry to ask a probably stupid question (I'm not very professsional) but what is the difference between those 2 files and which one should I use to replace the original bat ... or do I need both?

Cheers again and btw you should get paid by steam or the devs for doing their work ;)

You only need the one in the main post. Replace tho original *.bat and you should be good to go. The other "versions" are attempts of creating a similar bat for the original Echelon by modifying this one (meaning you don't need them).

Same here. I have done everything Mystia has listed here as well and it's still a no go. Too bad, so sad. Thumbs down from me.

So it seems to find the key, detect the installation directory, but fail to run Options.exe and Game.exe. According to google search, windows may prevent downloaded files from running. Is there a "Unblock" button or something somewhere. Maybe in properities in the right click menu? Never seen that myself before...

True, you have to deblock it in properties. but the thing is even after that and if run as admin it says it cannot find game.exe and options.exe. And if you start them directly, it says that product is not installed.

Then it shouldn't be Windows. Still, something seems to be blocking the programs...

This worked for me, even though my problem was different on Win7 x64, it kept saying I needed Echelon 1.5 to play.

Pretty much the same as the original problem. Glad it worked.

It's not working with Win8.1 x64.
The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application.
I followed RXDimA's registry entry collection and when that failed, I used the pastebin script. I've used the profile RXDimA posted. If there's a torrent that works, I could use that, then redirect Steam to that file. Only reason I'd want to use the Steam version (which I own, but has never worked), is for the trading cards.
I've tried it with different resolutions as set in the registry.

It was never intended to work with Win8. Neither of us have it, so we were, of course, unable to make it work with it.
