Xbox One and 360 Controller issues [SOLUTION]
Hi everyone,

first of all, we are super sorry you guys and girls have issues with the controllers. We have been working on a fix as soon as the feedback started coming in.

In order for you to have this resolved asap, we have a manual solution for now. Patching asks us to go through QA and testing and would take longer but ideally we want to have a patch version available as soon as we can.

Xbox One Controller Fix

You need to copy and paste the code below into the controllerconfig.txt on your local machine
  1. Press WinKey + R to open the run prompt and paste: %UserProfile%\AppData\LocalLow\Rock Pocket Games\Shiftlings\RockPocket\Core\Input\ControllerConfig.txt
  2. Paste the code below at THE END of the file (start a new line and make sure it's added at the bottom)
  3. Save the file

{CONTROLLER} name = "Xbox One For Windows" input:AXIS_LT_LEFT = AXIS:-1 input:AXIS_LT_RIGHT = AXIS:1 input:AXIS_LT_UP = AXIS:2 input:AXIS_LT_DOWN = AXIS:-2 input:AXIS_DPAD_LEFT = AXIS:-7 input:AXIS_DPAD_RIGHT = AXIS:7 input:AXIS_DPAD_UP = AXIS:8 input:AXIS_DPAD_DOWN = AXIS:-8 input:BUTTON_TOP = BUTTON:3 input:BUTTON_RIGHT = BUTTON:1 input:BUTTON_BOTTOM = BUTTON:0 input:BUTTON_LEFT = BUTTON:2 input:BUTTON_L1 = BUTTON:4 input:BUTTON_R1 = BUTTON:5 input:BUTTON_L2 = AXIS:3 input:BUTTON_R2 = AXIS:6 input:BUTTON_START = BUTTON:7

360 Controller Issues

Unfortunately we were not able to reproduce these in-house and would need a bit more feedback from your side. Your log-file would help us out a lot here:

  1. Right click "Shiftlings" in your steam library and select "Properties".
  2. Go to the "LOCAL FILES" tab
  3. Select "BROWSE LOCAL FILES.."
  4. Open the data folder and find the file named "output_log.txt"
  5. Send us the file together with info about your windows version to:
    contact at rockpocketgames dot com

Once again, our sincerest apology and rest assured we are working on fixing the issues as fast as we can!

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Suddenly it works. Maybe i just had to hit [START] on the second controller after the level was loaded. So you just have to fix that documentation/user manual I guess. Is there any?

Yeah, you have to hit start once in the level to "join" the game with more controllers, otherwise it will assume it's single-player. There should be a text in the top-right corner of the screen saying something like "join the game by pressing Return or Start on second controller". It disappears fairly quick, though, so it I guess it's easy to miss.

Glad to hear you got it to work, thanks for letting us know!

Same problem/solution here. I have Win7 and two wireless Xbox360 controllers for Windows. I had both controllers in use at first launch and calibrated the first one, then went looking where I can add the second controller, because in most games there is an option to choose control methods for both players in options menu. So, I tried to calibrate the second controller too, because it was the only controller related option there. Well, that broke the controlling scheme and controls where distributed between two controllers...

I started the game again, and calibarated only the first controller and based on this thread I added the second controller only after the game has started, and pressed start-button on it. It worked, and both controllers work now, but it could be done much clearer way.

I was having this problem on Windows 10 v1809 and my Wireless 360 controller and fixed it by improvising their solution. To the end of this file I pasted this instead:
%UserProfile%\AppData\LocalLow\Rock Pocket Games\Shiftlings\RockPocket\Core\Input\ControllerConfig.txt

{CONTROLLER}
name = "Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows"
input:AXIS_LT_LEFT = AXIS:-1
input:AXIS_LT_RIGHT = AXIS:1
input:AXIS_LT_UP = AXIS:2
input:AXIS_LT_DOWN = AXIS:-2
input:AXIS_DPAD_LEFT = AXIS:-7
input:AXIS_DPAD_RIGHT = AXIS:7
input:AXIS_DPAD_UP = AXIS:8
input:AXIS_DPAD_DOWN = AXIS:-8
input:BUTTON_TOP = BUTTON:3
input:BUTTON_RIGHT = BUTTON:1
input:BUTTON_BOTTOM = BUTTON:0
input:BUTTON_LEFT = BUTTON:2
input:BUTTON_L1 = BUTTON:4
input:BUTTON_R1 = BUTTON:5
input:BUTTON_L2 = AXIS:3
input:BUTTON_R2 = AXIS:6
input:BUTTON_START = BUTTON:7
