-Versus is (as far as I can tell) online-only, 2 teams, 2 to 8 players. Two game modes, Stock or Summoner; I'm not familiar with either one.

I did mention that: versus is online and co-op is local.
This strikes me as odd. Generally, in other games, co-op is more forgiving of lag. So, I'd think that if they chose to make one local-only and one online, co-op should be online, and PvP local. I'm not saying you're incorrect, just that it's an odd set-up.
