My understanding is, +1 dex is around +20 to hit, and 1-2 dex allows you to hit one level higher mobs. Roughly.
Maybe get +3 dex gloves, or some dex food, see if it makes a difference?
Im a wizzy, I roll with +4 dex, +18 to hit earring, +20 wep.... And i dont have problems hitting deep orange mobs. Even reds at 50/50 odds.
How "new" is this class in comparison to the others?
You'd need another game.
You can advance your character to level 40, but the Shaman pet is hard-coded to be level 10. It never gets any stronger.
So, the Shaman pet loses usefulness around character level 15, has minimal use around 18, and by 20 it can't hit anything that gives you XP.
It's hard to say what is going on. The game studio doesn't seem to have a plan, more like they all just check in their code and hope for the best on patch day.
The wolf breaks this balance by giving the shaman, which is intended to be a healer, a DPS advantage over Clerics and other classes that deal damage, but lack a powerful heal and additional support. The developers know that should a new tier of wolf be added, the imbalance would extend further and further down the higher levels and become a bigger problem down the road.
The only way I could seem them fixing this problem would be to place a restriction on access to support or certain healing abilities at the cost of the wolf's DPS increase. For example, losing access to Replenish, Rain-Lands, or Burning Fog.
They could also place the wolf on the primary abilities bar as well, since its less support and considered extra damage like a living DoT (Damage over Time Source). This would force the shaman to lose one of their heals or debuffs to use the wolf, thus fixing part of the imbalance.
