No.

If you feel the need to box then Pantheon has failed.

Yeah, this I hated about EQ and every other game that allowed it. Completely screws the game up and one of the biggest exploits of EQ.

I dont know about a /follow command, it doesnt seem to work on normal players but maybe it works on group mates? As far as multi-boxing Ive been wondering about this, so I added that question if we can run two accounts at once on my existing support ticket. Here is the answer I just got from the Pantheon support staff.

"You can purchase the game and should be able to run two accounts at once. It might be a challenge to play both characters well at the same time but we have many pledgers who have 2 accounts."

So evidently according to the support staff its ok to run more then one account.

There is no follow command. I don't know if you can run two simultaneous accounts using steam or not. Using the VR client you currently can.

Ok so it sounds like I would need to buy directly from VR then since I already have it on steam, to run two accounts. The problem is you currently cannot buy it directly from the website, unfortunately.

I'm interested in this as well. My laptop is too slow to run it, so I can't true box. I want another instance open on my main pc, but can't. Any workaround please?

Hopefully there never will be.

I know there are different positions on multi-box, some love it, some hate it. I am concerned as to its effect. Watching it become standard in EQ wasn't I would say... a good change IMO and it had a lot of negative effects on play.

I hope at least we can have a server where this is disallowed. I really don't want to go back to the days of dealing with entire boxed guilds locking down targets, farming services, etc...

Back then it at least required someone to have multiple machines (and input switches), with VMs and all the utilities to automate, it would be extremely easy to automate a group or raid these days. I don't think it would be a good thing.

What is Steam's policy on it? I have never tried it on any of my steam games. Is it even possible?

Well, on steam through a single account it might be restricted (depends), though the VR launcher as someone mentioned didn't seem to have a restriction.

Even so, if someone buys extra accounts (ie Separate steam account + game), they won't be able to stop it (you can't even control it via IP as VPNs would allow different IPs for each VM/machine).

Only way to go after it is through in-game AI evaluation. To be honest, it would be easier to just allow it on some servers and not on others and then be heavy handed if they catch it.

At least this way, people can't complain about not being able to do it and those that do it on the servers they aren't supposed to would be directly malicious in their intent and deserving of complete bans (on the core account, pay source, level).

I don't think there should be boxing in this. You're supposed to be playing with others. And they camp / take over all the good spots and actual groups can't get a shot.

Agreed, but I think the good thing this time around, something brad talked about was that their server tech allows for easy setups of alternate servers (at least it was stated as such back then), so... they might be able to appeal to different crowds in the long run, making most people happy.

It is one of the strong points of this game that has me rooting for it above other games that I might find more attuned to my rule set desire (ie Monsters and Memories).

On a positive note, I had an experience last night that I'll share. Keep in mind I am personally anti box, I wish it never existed. Anyway, I was playing last night just soloing while looking for a group. Someone sent me a tell and asked me to join their group as their healer. I went and joined them but noticed the person who sent me a tell was not even in the group. The person that sent me the tell was also a healer, but I found out that it was a second account from someone in the group.

So even though that person had 2 accounts logged in at the same time they opted to have another human do the healing instead of their 2nd account.

Problem with boxing in a social game that has public dungeons is that eventually those boxers take over camp spots and you end up with what is essentially "soloers" camping all the content. So what would normally be many individual players camping dungeons and grouping together turns into a limited amount of people controlling the dungeons.

There are always those who claim "good intentions", and I have ran into many who would drop their box in favor of a group or if they were camping some place, pulling other people to their boxed group, even dropping their boxed characters as the party filled up.

Those are the ideal people, but those people become less and less, and eventually you get "drood2342" camping with boxes taking all the camps and later, entire guilds of boxes controlling raid spawn points with poop socks and bot ready load ins"

It never ends well.
