Please make Necromancer fun
So im desperately trying to summon a level 10 pet now that I just hit level 10, I have gone through every single bone I owned now (20+) trying to get a skeleton I can use to fight mobs my level, but I keep getting low level crap skeletons, they will absolutely die in a few hits if I try and do level appropriate content.
So here I am with my last skeleton who is level 8, no more bones, and having to wait for an hour for more skeletons to spawn at night so the "fun" can continue.
I tried going back to the level 1 newbie cave to farm some bones, but those things in there almost killed me since they are group content.
Sure I could pick off the non group one or 2 skeletons that spawn in there on rare occasions scattered throughout the cave, spending the entire daytime hour in the newbie cave killing newbie content for "fun".
Whoever designed this skeleton mechanic obviously is not playing necromancer, and never has, can it really be true that I have to pull out all my hair in rage, bile and adrenaline to get myself a level appropriate pet ?? is this truly the way you VG want the players experience to be ??
The closer I get to the next level pet spell the wider the level gap is on the pets I summon, why the heck would I ever want to fight with a level 5 pet by my side ?? or am I supposed to fight level 5 content at level 10 ??

Necromancer pet was pretty weak in EQ too. Your pet is not there to tank stuff for you. If you want that, you should play Summoner.

That had nothing to do with what I just wrote.

I guess it did.

I actually like the class, it is the constant low level pets that are being summoned that got to me, out of bones with a weakling of a pet, 1 hour till next night .... it just pulled the life out of me, I will keep at it regardless :)

(edit) after another night stealing mobs from new characters in the starter area I had 29 more bones, after 29 more summons I now have a lvl 6 pet ....... twentynine summons and not a SINGLE level equivalent pet ...... yeah this class is so much fun.

Resummoning pets trying to get the highest level possible was a bad mechanic in EQ, they should scrap it.

Or at least make it so you summon one your level after a few tries if they do insist on keeping it.

i honestly dont notice much of a difference if the pet is a few levels lower, hes basically just another dot, a temporary distraction for opening with at best. Just use the pet that gets summoned, if hes too weak he will die and you will summon a new one. I cant imagine a level 10 one is particularly more durable than a level 8 one, they are both going to be fragile and need you to take agro from them

just make fear kiting the standard again so your lvl of skele mostly impacted how quickly you killed.

Make sure you have your new pet spell, if you do, make sure to replace it in the hotbar. Some do that mistake thinking it will overwrite it, but gotta do it manually.

I mean, you could always use the first pet you summon and just ignore the level thing. Its not like the skeleton is of much help, even if at same level as caster.
I do think that the necro should play more with corpses and be less reliant on self cast spells.

If you spent all the time you spent complaining and farming bones to resummon leveling instead, you'd probably already have your next tier of pet spells by now.

I need to find a spot to farm bones - I'm just a noob, and the few skeletons that spawn in the Ogre village cave just aren't enough for me. I've been lucky, though, and had pets about the same level as me, but the level 2 pet doesn't seem much more effective than the level 1 pet. Maybe it's early days as yet, but I still find it useful.

The pet is handy as an assistant, too, as it carries my torch while I use a Staff weapon. I noticed that it keeps the torch and dagger I gave it when it dies and gets re-summoned. I de-levelled once and had to use the level 1 pet to get my xp back, and noticed that when I could summon the level 2 pet again, it still had the torch and dagger. An unexpected, but pleasant, surprise.

I know this game isnt EQ1. But it is labeled as a spiritual successor. And this is NOT the necro the EQ folks want. The class is beyond awful.

1 - In Combat/Out of combat concept; please scrap this. I should not get less mana regen per second in combat than I do out of combat, if I am sitting down. Bring back medding please. Why can't I change spells during combat? I Should be able to root something, switch to a different spell for a different situation, and do my thing. This is ridiculous.

2 - Why in the hell is DOT damage counting against root? Direct damage breaks root. Melee damage breaks root. But DOT should NOT break root. Basically root rotting is GONE. So I cannot med in combat, I cannot root rot, and I cant fear kite. So that doesnt leave me much choice. I abhor the idea of being a caster and having to melee.

3 - Fear at lvl 20 as a necro? Wtf..nuff said.

4 - Corpse summon for Summoner and Necro? Wtf...that is a necro thing. Not a summoner thing. Summoners are the most common class right now. They are EVERYWHERE. Best pet, amazing DPS, mana regen, slows, CC, mana restoration abilities, light spells, AND corpse summons. Why wouldnt you be a Summoner?

I have not really figured out the necromancer's place. They are labeled as a utility class. Specifically stated, they are NOT a DPS class. But they dont offer too much utility, compared to some of the other main classes. Why a necro? Why not a summoner, wizard, enchanter, or healer? Thats what most groups are thinking. At least make the necro the solo king as it should be. Bring back root rotting, fear kiting, and give us a niche.
