On the other hand I'm pretty sad this game will most likely die a swift death because what the think is "oldschool" is just a textbook example in how to make things tedious and not fun given the progress games made over the years.
I think everyone should keep their money and take a good look if the game turns arround a bit because right now it looks more like an alpha build then anything else. To me it looks like the vision for the game died with McQuaid and become something different and bland.
Sure ppl who like the game will most likely throw stones at me for pointing this out and will white knight the game as if it was a hill to die on but I couldn't care less. This game mixes up my emotions pretty much from relive I didn't pledge to beeing sad it turned out so bad.
So in short: Save your money and look if it is still arround in 6 months and got better.
aah didnt know about the launcher that is good news i quess
yea for now i agree about saving money and waiting to see how things turn out for the game
I think that tastes differ, which is why I don't slight you for not liking this game.
What did you expect though? You mention "niche", but then act like it is a surprise? Did you even bother to read the tenants? Did you read the information about the game to even know what it was trying to achieve? Did you somehow think it would be different from everything they claimed they were trying to create?
See, I don't understand these types of responses. You knew (or your should have) and then you act upset because it didn't do what you should have known it wasn't going to do.
What you are doing is this:
I watched this new restaurant that was coming out, I really wanted to go there. It was a hamburger restaurant, and I really was excited to go, but well... when it finally came out, I went to order a taco and they were like..."we don't serve tacos, we are a hamburger restaurant" and I was like... this is crazy!
They make a restaurant for hamburgers for people who wanted hamburgers and I wanted a taco! How dare them, this is such a betrayal and to think I was actually going to support them?
Serious disconnect from reality.
By the way, why aren't you playing all those games out there that have all these features that you like? Odd that they all provide exactly what people claim they want, but somehow people aren't playing them?
If there were a bunch of games like this all over, and a new game came out that is more like mainstream, I wouldn't be waiting for it to come out... why? Because there are a bunch of games that have mechanics I like and enjoy, I would be playing them not caring at all that some game was coming out that attended to game play features I didn't like.
Odd.
Fixed that for you
That being said
I’m from EU and play in the only (so far) eu servers, which has 2 instances that are pretty populated. You see loads of people in town and happen to meet other players around, it doesn’t feel desert at all. I honestly don’t recommend playing it solo, as it can get pretty boring at the current state of the EA. On the other side i could see a huge difference playing in group. So much more fun, I really felt like diving back to 20 years ago playing old school mmorpgs, having real interaction with people (there are even skills that work in sinergy with other classes skills!), creating adventures out of nothing, all stuff that has gone lost with the modern mmorpgs.
I played about 15 hours so far, never had a crash and didn’t encounter bugs that ruined gameplay experience.
I like the higher difficulty of the game that forces player to be much more cautious and interacting with other players and helping each other. I miss not having a map, but I’d rather stay without it that having gps and full of quest indicators and stuff like that honestly.
So, long story short: you gotta really think whether this type of old school mechanics might work for you or not. Game is fun and very playable already and can only improve from here.
Hope this has been a bit useful for you.
aah thanks atleast i know eu servers are also populated
Two different log-in clients. Those who were pledges, those who are on steam. Only steam registers Steam players logging in, not pledges.
All the same servers though.
