Don't get me wrong, I would love nothing more for this game to be a success but you'll have to forgive me for being a little skeptical.
we'll see how many steam sales they get pretty quickly once live
MMO's are never finished though. They release when their core content is ready, then stuff gets added continuously for the rest of the time.
I believe all the info that is being discussed in this thread is answered here:

Look at how well it is doing for Star Citizen. Game has been in development for 10 years, still in "Alpha" stage. I actually think this is a good idea for VR to do. More should do it especially if their development cycle is long,
Star Citizen is literally the worst example possible.
$700M in revenue and where is it?
After all these years and all that money, the game is still horrible... not just because of the endless bugs, but the gameplay is bad.
Well said. The developers have squandered all they have had. I don't trust them further than I can throw them.
devs are incredibly clear about what this is, 24/7 testing with (hopefully) no wipes (though of course a wipe before official launch). there's nothing wrong with them needing money and all expectations of dev time/past dev time are meaningless- the core of the game is clearly done & an influx of cash can get you developers for any sort of release schedule
do you like the game or not
