The reality plain and simple is the devs lack their OWN personal vision for the game, you can only beg borrow and steal from previous MMO titles so much before your design choices show obvious lack of any insight.
These guys dont know what direction to follow and the hyper vocal community minority will ensure they design themselves into failure if they continue to listen to them.
I just do not see a path forward with their dev time and early access performance thus far.
so, I can see what you mean from that, even tho I didnt play this game
sticking to the theme of gaming, I play everything from single player RPGs, to MMO's, to open world space sandbox games, flight sims. racing sims, RTS...I could go on...not sure where you might think I dont think its ok to try new things.
someone said they had a problem - ranger kiting, apparently. Not sure if its true or not. Which was due to previous 'fix' that 'fixed' something else.
So, in effort to fix the fix that fixed something that in turn made rangers OP or whatever, they made it so mobs can now Rush and stun players from beyond max range, every 5-7 seconds. To get them pesky rangers. This also ♥♥♥♥♥♥ a bunch other things and classes, like targeting, pets, but im talking about wizards in particular here.
Boars, bears, every tank archotype mob will now rush and stun a wizard from beyond max range, immediately and repeatedly. As soon as you initiate a fight, 1second Stun in your face, and 5-7 seconds later, another stun in your face, and another, repeatedly. You cant facetank bears as a wizard, obviously, when they perma-stun you repeatedly. You cant even run away from them now (because they made this to fight ranger speeds and kiting, remember, so the stuff is relentless now, much faster, and will, like a cruise missile, hammer you in the back with a perma-stun even if you drink haste potions to escape) Wizards have no tools to combat that, and it effectively locks them out of about a third of all solo content. Cant solo a bear, cant solo a boar, a werewolf... Im talking about serious levels, not level 10 crap. You can maybe facetank a level 10 boar, but when it comes to serious content, level 25+, there wizards go down in 5-8 seconds, its unrealistic. Say you a tailor and want thick bear fur. that comes from iceclaw bear, a level 30 mob. Go, facetank an iceclaw as a wizard, see what happens.
So, i raised it as a class concern on discord. Some dev came along and said, paraphrasing here, bruh just glint it, maybe we will add some counterplay later. Okay. Glint doesnt work that way, there is a bunch of issses there that make it unworkable, so it just shows they have no intention of fixing anything.
For starters if they make glint work on physical abilities like Rush - remeber glint is bascally magical silence - if it now works on physical abilities, I can now stun all bosses, such as moon witch transformation, or, gadai shield wall, or a bunch of other formerly not interruptable by wizards abilities. Dont quibble with me here, i dont remember them all, im saying in general. So their proposed 'fix' will ♥♥♥♥ over other things. Which will require other fixes. And on and on.
Its not serious.
eq was great cuz the community was awesome. pantheon has some of that going on. most other popular mmos do not, ir it is very difficult to find.
"I been sayin' it! I've been sayin' for ten ♥♥♥♥♥♥ years, ain't I been saying it, Miguel?!?"
not a single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ person here has once said they want WOW. not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ one.
your inability to comprehend or imagine a middle ground is YOUR problem.
EQ sucked. It always sucked. It was a janky mud with a hud and the only thing that made it sufferable were the other people you played with.
only 20 years later, we now see the people we were playing with was ... you ... and now no one wants to keep playing games with you.
In 2025, we don't have to put up with poorly tested updates that break the game. Regardless of what size team, that is irrelevant. The game is a throw back to early EQ and all of us old EQ players love the idea but we are not going to relive the the poor quality again because in 26 years, things should get a lot better.
Can I has ur stuff?
Clearly you haven't played WoW in a long time. At worst people don't say anything and just steamroll everything. Quest quality and art are top notch, as well as bosses and dungeons. If you really want to take a swing at WoW complain about how much gear they throw at you and the lack of community.
