On the other hand, perhaps the OP wants to play a video game that utilizes one of the primary features of a computer: the monitor.
I don't have any problems moving around at night, so I am unsure what the problem is.
Granted, you have to be more careful, know your surroundings, and understand the risks.
Seems like the OP does not want this type of play, which is fine, but it is a form of play they choose to avoid because.... they don't want to take the risk. Others will and do and are rewarded for this learning and adventure.
Looks like the mechanic is working as intended wouldn't you think?
Not only did it became a lot more dark with the unity 6 the tools to deal with it are not ingame yet
We are supposed to have racial visions and various light sources that are way more powerfull than the torches we currently have (or is it matches lol) but they are not ingame yet
So we have one mechanic getting more "hardcore" but we do not have the means to counter it as we will have some time in the future
Which is why the complaints are odd though. As it is now, the game is still pretty easy to get around, and yet there will be more tools implemented to make it easier in the future.
So I don't see the problem here?
This attitude will do more damage to this game and its chances than all the "casuals" on earth. VR has even said that lighting is going to be a bit of an issue for now with the Unity 6 change. Don't need to white knight so hard when they have said its something they are working on.
The game is in EA because it was close to broke. New players should be welcomed and helped, not told off.
Its why I refunded this game. You get attacked if you have a complaint or opinion. If you argue back they go and say you are trolling to a GM and try to ban you.
Your constant attacks are a sad form of gate keeping that is a massive turn off to most.
That's the thing, we cannot see at night, either. My technique to get around that was to approach at such an angle that the enemy was highlighted by the (very) slight moonlight through the tree leaves. So sometimes I could see a fluttering of wings above ground level, or what I remembered ground level to be. I was also recalling exactly how many enemies there were per square area so I knew where to look.
That is how I "see" at night.
As for whether that is broken, I neither know nor care. The mechanic was fun for me in other games, and is fun here as well.
I agree that this "gatekeeping" is a turnoff for most. That is an unfortunate fact, that when attacked most people will defend.
I offer no apology for that defense, and frankly I think you should have not only expected it but should have tiptoed around it so as not bring it forth.
I have zero problem employing that tactic when I step into the domain of others, making outrageous demands.
Or you can accept that certain times are more dangerous than others, and adjust accordingly.
... but why would we do that, i want everything easy all the time!
As per Joppa there are torches, lanterns, light gems, glowing weapons and even the possibility
of wandering wisps were that makes sense to light up the area
That is on top of racial vision types that everyone but poor humans will get
They just implemented half the mechanic without the planned tools to deal with it
All info I have is on Joppa s various streams for those who dont know he is the lead dev
