Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen

Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen

For OG EQ or P1999 players...Does this game hold a candle to Classic EQ?
Wondering if the juice is worth the squeeze or better off waiting for Evercraft or Monsters and Memories.

Totally worth it, even in EA. I was a hardcore old-school EQ fan and this game scratches that itch nicely. Go for it.

Hmm...

Depends, what did you think of Vanguard, not counting its bugs and the like?

Played the private Vanguard SoH server recently. I find VG a little better. Once they finish recreating it,

Felt good to be back in that world. Nice to actually have hardware that handles it easy. Remember it was not the best running but seems so much better now.

Long way to go but I suspect it will be good.

It's a good game with an old school vibe. It gives a lot of the same feels as EQ, but it's not an EQ clone. (at least it doesn't feel that way to me).
You can easily get $40 worth of play time out of it.

That being said, know what you're getting into!
This game is EA, and only about half done. What's here is fun and very playable, with surprisingly few bugs, but it's far from done.

Get in a guild with friendly people and this game opens up like a flower. Its a social game and the more social you are willing to be yourself, the more you will enjoy the game.

I play a lot of MMO's. Pantheon is the only mmo that for me has that old EQ feel. But it isn't EQ, Pantheon is it's own game and that's just fine.

Also, the endgame isn't out yet in Pantheon. Endgame high level raiding is where I spent most of my years in EQ. We'll have to wait a while to see what Pantheon's endgame will be.

Pantheon feels very little like classic EQ. I have no idea how people are making that leap other than it not feeling like another Mindlessly Modern Online Role-Playing Game.

If you ever want to have the option of playing it in the future, then you should support the development now.

i agree with you. I don't feel like this game "feels" like Everquest at all to me. I played when EQ originally came out in 1999, and Pantheon doesn't play like it, or feel like it. I still play EQ today and its soooo much better, just lacks population

Obviously in terms of the mechanics of movement it will not feel remotely the same, except maybe for the pathetic jump.

But in terms of difficulty gearing, head on a swivel roaming, and obviously APM and TTK, it is objectively quite similar. Less so with the APM. That's a tad more frantic.

Yes, I noticed the movement is this new style janky movement where in EQ you can turn on a dime
