(Note to community, itemization changes will be making their way into the game, starting with the next patch. The process will be ongoing.)


Greetings from your friendly neighborhood Artificer.

This message is to inform everyone of the plans for itemization. Recently, I have taken on the role of managing, solidifying and refining how we approach it as a whole. The upcoming content should showcase this, and we highly encourage feedback on it that keeps the following points in mind. Older itemization will be addressed in following updates.

To set the stage, it must be stated that we are itemizing this content in the game with 1.0 and beyond in mind. We want to avoid making and distributing items in the game in a way that does not move towards that goal, just to address issues in the now that would be solved organically as development continues.

1. Item distribution in Pantheon. Items not only provide your character power and progression, they are also an essential part of the game for driving player traffic through the world, helping it feel alive, and encouraging a more interesting/healthier player experience and bigger adventure. Many of you have noted that the amount of items available for a specific class/archetype in a level range feel rather thin, and this is intentional with our distribution model. As more content comes online that has a similar level range, this aspect of our itemization vision should feel much better.

2. Keeping stat inflation down, but making equipment acquisition feel satisfying. For launch, we wanted to keep our stats on the smaller side, so they don't go crazy soon after when more content comes online, however, Pantheon characters have a lot of gear slots! To avoid either watering them down per-piece, or inflating them overall, we're going to consolidate *most* stat bonuses to armor slots. This means accessory slots (which include waist and back as well for this purpose) are going to be offering ratings, resists, and non-stat bonuses (some of which have yet to be seen in game) to characters primarily, and will be less focused on stats.

3. Stat variety on items and "soft specs". With class abilities finally changing to utilize a wider array of stats per-class, we need to offer more gear that has a wider variety of stat bonuses. Those changes also give us a great avenue for horizontal progression, collecting layouts of gear that focus on different stats for a class to accentuate different abilities and playstyles. The total number of stats on items will be rising in general, but will also be more spread out. Like our item distribution, this will start to feel better as more content becomes available to hunt for items with different stat focuses in.

4. Making resists matter more. The itemization side of this involves increasing their availability, so that content can be created with more of an emphasis on utilizing them. Part of the planned system for resists, and utilizing them as a minor route of horizontal progression, is to use a bonus/penalty system. For example, a lower level or quality item might offer some fire resistance, but have a higher penalty to nature resistance. A higher level or quality item might offer slightly more fire resistance, but much less of a penalty to nature resistance, a different resistance, or perhaps none at all in the case of the best ones. The goal here is to offer resistances in amounts that matter, without inflating them too much, so rather than the amount of resistance always rising with an upgrade, one way the item can be an improvement is to have less of a penalty, or a different one that the player feels is less detrimental.

Solidifying and adhering to the above, is a large piece of the puzzle as the team works towards the unified vision of the game.

Today, we’re thrilled to unveil a suite of new iconic abilities, each crafted to deepen your role and play style.

Iconic Abilities: Defining Your Role in Terminus

These abilities are the heartbeat of Pantheon’s classes, designed to make each role feel essential and vibrant. They’re not just tools—they’re the essence of your character’s story, ensuring no class feels redundant and every group thrives on cooperation.

Here’s a look at some of these iconic abilities (not a complete list):

• Celestial Aegis: A towering ethereal shield rises at the Cleric’s command, halting enemies and deflecting deadly projectiles. It stands as a divine bulwark, protecting allies and turning the tide when hope falters.
• Coalescence: With a sacred bond, the Cleric aligns their vitality with a wounded ally, raising that ally's health to match their own.

• Call of the Dire: The Dire Lord’s chilling command compels an enemy to abandon all resistance, walking helplessly toward their doom.

• Conjure Storm: The Druid calls forth a tempest, darkening the skies with thunder and rain. This localized storm unsettles foes and empowers allies, marking the Druid as nature’s herald.
• Vinewoven Bridge: Vines twist and grow at the Druid’s will, forming a sturdy bridge across impassable gaps. It’s a lifeline for the group, opening paths where none existed.

• Squee’s Mimicry: With a flicker of illusion, the Enchanter transforms into a nearby object—a barrel, a crate—blending seamlessly into the environment. It’s a playful trick that opens stealthy opportunities.
• Charm and Dire Charm: The Enchanter bends an enemy’s mind, turning foe into ally. Whether a temporary pet or a permanent thrall, this power makes the Enchanter a puppeteer of battle.

• Monk Gates: The Monk opens mystical gates within, unlocking buffs and abilities that shift their combat prowess. Each gate is a step toward mastery, adapting to the fight’s demands.
• Chi Burn: In a blaze of sacrifice, the Monk unleashes Chi Burn, surging with unmatched offensive might at the cost of their own vitality. It’s a daring gamble that can save or doom the group.

• Sense Undead: The Paladin’s senses sharpen, revealing undead with glowing clarity and guiding them to their quarry. It’s a holy calling that marks their crusade against the unholy.
• Lightful Avenger: Consuming corruption from undead foes, the Paladin transforms into a radiant avenger, their strikes blazing with divine wrath. It’s a beacon of justice in the darkest fights.

• Kaylen’s Command: With a commanding call, the Ranger sways a wild beast to become a temporary ally.

• Length of Rope: The Rogue unfurls a rope, letting allies climb treacherous heights. It’s a practical yet vital skill, opening paths only a Rogue’s cunning can provide.
• Lockpicking: With deft hands and a lockpick, the Rogue unravels the secrets of locked doors and chests, revealing treasures and shortcuts for the group.
• Pick Pocketing: In stealth, the Rogue’s fingers dance, pilfering coin or trinkets from unsuspecting foes. It’s a risky art, indeed.

• Veil Walking: Sacrificing their spirit pet, the Shaman gains a fleeting afterlife. Upon death, they roam as a spectral wolf, healing allies and dragging their own corpse to safety.
• Shrink: With a mystic chant, the Shaman shrinks a companion, easing navigation through tight spaces or adding whimsy to the journey.

• Shield Wall: The Warrior channels unyielding resolve, linking shields with another to form a fortified barrier. It taunts foes and halves damage, a defiant stand for the group’s survival.
• Battering Ram: With a mighty charge, the Warrior shatters weakened barriers, clearing paths through ruins or fortifications—a brute force solution only they can deliver.

• Dragonfire Bomb: The Wizard hurls a slow, fiery orb that scorches enemies in its path before erupting in a blazing explosion.

A Fellowship Forged in Terminus

These iconic abilities are at the core of Pantheon’s vision. They are part of ensuring that every class—from the Cleric’s radiant shields to the Rogue’s sly thievery—has a distinct role, making groups more than the sum of their parts. The Druid’s Vinewoven Bridge gets you across a chasm, but the Warrior’s Shield Wall keeps you alive on the other side. The Enchanter’s Charm turns enemies into allies, while the Paladin’s Lightful Avenger purges the undead. Together, they create a world where interdependence isn’t just mechanics—it’s the magic of adventure.

• Added the "Show Ability Visual Effects" option to the Graphics tab of the settings window, which allows spell/ability VFX to be turned off.
  
• Added the "Show In-world Combat Text" option to the General tab of the settings window, which allows the combat and buff add/removal text that appears in the 3d view to be disabled.
  
• Added a header row to the social window lists, and clicking on the column names (such as Name, Lvl, Class, etc.) will sort the list by that column.

• The offensive and defensive target windows can now have their settings (such as scale and opacity) edited by holding Ctrl and right clicking on them.

• Fixed an issue where readiness wasn't regenerating during gathering of resources.

• Fixed an issue where keys and other items needed to open doors or trigger things in the world would work if the player had the item in the bank. They now need to be in the player's actual inventory.
  
• Fixed issue with weather transitions at night blowing fog color out until the transition completed.

• Miscellaneous technique fixes and minor adjustments.
  
• Removed readiness gains for taking or doing damage and weapon style adjustments to readiness gain. Increased base readiness regen by 3 times.

• Cleric Techniques use a Strength modifier and have had their weapon scaling damage increased (very minor adjustment, more changes coming).
  
• Censure, Rebuke, Castigate, Reproof, Abominate, Condemn, and Judgement have had their damage increased significantly and now use a Constitution modifier.
  
• Reduced the bonus to Readiness generation for the Writ line to 10, 15 and 20% to be more in line with the latest Readiness changes.

• New skills should now properly add Provoking Phantoms stacks.
  
• Call of the Dire reduced to 200 Essence.

• Delayed Wound Readiness cost reduced to 1000.

• Players may now undertake Level 1-10 crafting work orders for all professions in the city of Sorhiryth. Work orders are repeatable crafting quests that provide opportunities for crafters to improve their skills, earn money, discover more about different areas and factions, and earn unique crafting schematics. To participate in this content, players should speak to Trademaster Vinzin in the Sorhiryth market. Please note that additional work orders and work order rewards will be added to the game on an ongoing basis in many different areas.

• Mining nodes have been activated for the Lower Ironroot Slopes in Wild's End.
  
• Mining nodes have been activated for the Upper Ironroot Slopes in Wild's End.
  
• Woodcutting nodes have been activated for the Upper and Lower Ironroot Slopes in Wild's End.
  
• Several gatherable plants have received updated VFX in preparation for eventually disabling the default visibility of nameplates on gathering nodes to help reduce screen clutter. The new effects should be less noticeable during the day but help with locating these plants at night. Please note that what you see may vary depending on your monitor settings. Additional node types will be updated in future updates.

• Added new sound effects for some Cleric, Druid, Shaman and Wizard abilities.
  
• Added some new night music, added new music in Wild's End, and some music changes in Eastern Plains.

• Readiness now regens even while out of combat and while resting in combat.
  
• Group NPC base Resistances have been reduced to coincide with Resist debuff stacking rules
  
• Group NPC base Armor Class has been reduced to coincide with the AC debuff stacking rules
  
• Group NPC avoidance has temporarily been reduced, until the accuracy bug has been fixed

• Fixed a hole in the terrain at a Gadai recruit camp in Thronefast.

• Quick discipline changed from health to readiness.

• Strike of Breaking is now a combo ability. New ranks are learned at levels 10, 20, and 30. Cost has been reduced to 500 Readiness.

General

Disabled VFX scaling on the majority of effects. This should address some NPC types (spiders, toads, etc) having improperly scaled VFX play on them. Some may need to be re-adjusted to account for this change (like appearing too small now in some cases, or components not playing at the correct height on some NPCs), but for now it should resolve the majority of these cases where visual effects were way too big and obstructing gameplay.

Today, April 25th, is the birthday of Brad McQuaid. He is an MMORPG legend and the original creator of Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen.

We have on our team, personal friends of Brad and long-time work associates. Bringing Pantheon to Early Access has been another big step in realizing Brad's last dream, and we would like to preserve his legacy by honoring him today.

We have shared personal stories from the team remembering Brad. We would also like to introduce Aradune Mithara into the world of Terminus. You will find him near Availia and near the lift in Wild's End currently and we have future plans for Aradune that we hope brings a touch of Brad's magic to the world we continue to create.

• Added new 2h spear auto-attack animations for the ogres and dwarves.
  
• It's now possible to remove guild members that are in other zones, or not online, by name (such as “/guildremove Slacker”).
  
• Added some new unarmed auto-attack animations.
  
• The Necklace of the Ghaldassii Ward has had its stats revised and the boon removed. An empowered version of the Necklace will be available in a forthcoming patch.
  
• Aradune Mithara has been spotted at a campfire just outside the Village of Availia and near the lift in Wild's End.

• Fixed a crash that sometimes happened when buffs were being removed.
  
• Trade will now be cancelled and send a message to both parties in the trade if at least one of them doesn't have enough room in their inventory to receive the items being traded to them.
  
• Client crash fixes.
  
• Fixed another area in Avendyr's Pass that was zoning players to Thronefast when it shouldn't have been.
  
• Fixed some issues that could prevent the crafting process from completing properly.

• Due to supply shortages, most merchants on Kingsreach no longer have antidotes available for sale. Players requiring these items are encouraged to work with local alchemists.

• The purchase prices of stale bread, flasks of water, trail rations, mineral water, and skins of milk have been reduced.
  
• The purchase price of Avendyr Trout has been reduced.
  
• The amount of energy restored by most crafted foods has been increased.
  
• The sale values of various meats obtained from skinning and/or loot have been adjusted to be more in line with the level at which they can be obtained.
  
• Purchase prices of most common crafting schematics have been reduced.
  
• Boots of Escape may now be equipped by Druids.

• Shield Reinforcements should now properly specify the materials required when crafting them.

• Blood Lich now heals himself, rather than his target

Techniques are going through quite a few changes and are in a somewhat transitional state for this patch. The techniques now all provide and consume the [Exposed] state. [Opening Gap] and [Off-balance] have been removed from the current system. With the state of this patch there will probably be some stepping on toes regarding who provides and consumes the [Exposed] state. Please know this frustration point will be heavily reduced soon. The final goal should reduce some of the fatigue and forced emphasis on stacking debuffs to feel effective.

• Players can make the decision to create their own opportunities and capitalize on them with this [Expose] state change. We've also added a new VFX to help players see when this state is active without staring at the debuff bar.
  
• Melee techniques remain at 1000 readiness cost. Most of their cooldowns have been removed outside of the GCD.
  
• Caster techniques are going back to the readiness system and (most) have a cost of 2000 readiness. Most cooldowns have been reduced or removed. Percent of base mana cost has been removed.
  
• Hard CC provided by techniques now provides a 15 second stun/knockdown immunity buff for the target.
  
• Techniques that previously provided the [Off-Balance] state have been moved over to a stun that requires [Exposed] to perform. There are a couple techniques in this patch that are currently duplicates during this transition.

[Upcoming changes – not in this patch]

• We are moving debuffs to a tiered priority system so combat balance will be shifted away from stacking multiple AC, resist, slow, etc. debuffs. This also means NPCs proportionally will have less mitigation once that tiered system is in place. This also helps further our goal of unifying our NPC templates (group/solo aka chevron/overworld).
  
• Readiness regeneration rates will be unified to a static value that applies consistently both in and out of combat. This rate can be modified by buffs and equipment.

There are a lot of other elements related to these changes, but we're working hard to apply player feedback while remaining/returning to the vision of Pantheon.

• Umbravines debuff changed to correct debuff.
  
• Hirode's Flame (all ranks) should now be much more reliable in terms of Line of Sight restrictions. The casting distance was reduced from 30m to 25m.
  
• Shadethistle Talisman applies the proper spell rank.
  
• Spirit of the Pack now uses the Augmentation skill instead of Corruption to cast.

• First Form Quickening added to vendors at level 6. Second, Third and Fourth form are learned automatically.

• Renew Bones no longer requires your pet to be targeted to activate.

- Brutal Cleave now requires level 28 to use.

• Fiery Gaze, Icy Outlook, and Thunderous Flow stances added to vendors.

Paladin additions:

• Added Cure at level 8. "Wield celestial light to draw out and eradicate 1 harmful Disease effect from the target."
  
• Added Wrathful Avenger at level 10. "Focus your growing Wrath, reducing the cooldown of your Righteous Flame ability by 5 seconds each time you use your Shock line.

Additionally, each cast of your Shock line of abilities will provide a stack of Welling Wrath, increasing outgoing Divine damage and healing by 2% per stack, up to a max of 5 stacks."

• Added additional ranks of Righteous Flame starting at level 10.
  
• Added additional ranks of Oathflame. Oathfire is now level 12. Vow of Flame is now added at level 24, and Vow of Fire is now added at level 36.
  
• Added additional ranks of Fervent Strike starting at level 12.
  
• Added additional ranks of Valiant Cross starting at level 14.
  
• Living Light renamed to Burst of Light. Added additional ranks of this line starting at level 20.
  
• Added Unleash at level 15. "Unleash your righteous rage, consuming all stacks of Welling Wrath to deal Divine damage to enemies in a 120 degree arc in front of you. Damage from this ability scales with more stacks of Welling Wrath consumed, generates bonus Threat and deals additional damage against Undead targets.

Requires at least 1 stack of Welling Wrath."

• Added additional ranks of Wrathful Aegis starting at level 16.
  
• Added additional ranks of Venger's Vow starting at level 16.
  
• Added additional spells in the Shock line starting at level 18.
  
• Added Lightful Avenger at level 30. "Your fiery conviction reaches a boiling point, transforming you into a lightful avenger.

During this time:

• All Wrath gains are increased by 50%
  
• Wrath gains from damage inflicted by Undead targets are increased an additional 15%
  
• Your melee attacks deal increased Divine damage, with a bonus against Undead targets.
  
• Enemies who strike you in combat will take Divine damage, with a bonus against Undead targets.
  
• Your melee critical strikes will extend the duration of this effect by 1 sec. This cannot occur more than once every 3 sec."

Paladin tweaks:

• Shock line now grants a stacking buff called Welling Wrath, increasing outgoing Divine damage and healing by 2% per stack. Stacks up to 5 times.
  
• Incite no longer has a window of bonus threat. It functions exactly as Taunt does for Warriors.
  
• Righteous Flame proc now deals bonus damage against Undead.
  
• Lightguard removed from global cooldown.
  
• Venger's Vow removed from global cooldown.
  
• Amount of Wrath restored by 1st rank of Venger's Vow reduced from 750 to 500. Wrath restored increases with higher ranks of this ability.
  
• Starting at Rank 3, Venger's Vow restores 1 Reckoning Point in addition to Wrath.
  
• Lance of the Lightful effect changed: "Impale the target with a bolt of celestial light, dealing Divine damage. If the target is below 25% Health, deals 250% Divine damage with a 50% chance to stun the target for 3 seconds."
  
• Range of Wrathful Aegis reduced to 5m.
  
• The window of bonus threat from Incite has been applied to the Wrathful Aegis debuff.
  
• Valiant Cross frontal cone reduced from 180 to 120 and it's reach reduced from 10m to 6m. This should make the ability more friendly to use in dense areas where crowd control is in play.
  
• Bonus threat from Valiant Cross damage has been increased slightly per rank.
  
• Living Light line has been converted into an AoE group heal and is no longer a smart heal projectile.
  
• Moved Oath of Valor to level 16 and changed the effect: "Recite the Oath of Valor, granting your successful melee attacks the chance to heal you."
  
• Moved Oath of Wrath to level 20 and changed the effect: "Recite the Oath of Wrath, granting your successful melee attacks the chance to generate additional Wrath."
  
• Moved Oath of Conviction to level 24 and changed the effect: "Recite the Oath of Conviction, granting your successful melee attacks the chance to generate additional Threat."
  
• Hymns have been converted to Stances instead of Utility.
  
• Oath of Determination, Discipline, Might and Retribution have been disabled for now.

DL

• New vfx for Call of the Dire.

CLR

• Removed spherical burst from various impact vfx.

NEC

• Improved the fear vfx and added collision to some particles.

PAL

• Adjusted the size of the Wrathful Aegis vfx.

Tweaks:

• Banners are now slotted as stances, and you can have up to 3 slotted at a time. (You can still only have one banner placed at a time.)
  
• Increased banner duration to 5 minutes (already live) and increased beneficial/detrimental effect range by 5m.
  
• Pound, Pulverize and Demolish have been renamed to Pulverize and given ranks. Pound is now Pulverize (Rank 1), Pulverize is now Rank 2 of the line, and Demolish is now Pulverize (Rank 3). Each of these ranks causes the Disempower effect on targets at less than 40% Health.
  
• Smash and Shatter have been renamed to Smash and given ranks. Smash is now the first rank in the line, and Shatter is now Smash (Rank 2). Both of these ranks will stun the target if it is less than 20% Health.
  
• The cooldowns of the Pulverize and Smash lines have been increased to 30 seconds, and both lines share a cooldown with each other, as do the ranks of each line.

Additions:

• Added Shield Prowess at level 10. "Your prowess with the shield grants you increased offensive capabilities after blocking. Successful blocks will reduce the cooldown of your Pound and Smash line of abilities by 2 sec. Additionally, for 10 seconds after blocking you will be able to retaliate with the Punish ability."
  
• Added Punish at level 10."Punish the enemy with a powerful shield strike, dealing Physical damage that generates increased Threat and 1 Battle Point. Punish must follow a successful Block."
  
• Added Hammering Blow line starting at level 12."Hammer the edge of your shield into your enemy, dealing Physical damage. If the target is below 25% health, gain Upper Hand, reducing incoming Physical damage by 15% for 10 sec."
  
• Added Banner of Warding line starting at level 14."Plant a banner of war near you for 5 min. Remaining within 15m of the banner will increase your group's spell mitigation by 10% while also increasing the physical damage your group receives by 10%.”

As the excitement of the Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen Early Access launch has subsided, it is time to merge the servers to achieve a more optimal population of concurrent players. We have chosen to utilize the server sharding feature, demonstrated on the servers Havensong and Black Moon, to grow and shrink server communities as needed during Early Access. Please note that server shards have not been confirmed for 1.0 launch, and are only currently being used for Early Access.

Fresh start servers for those who wish to create a character on a brand new server, will be available in the coming weeks.

PvP servers are now enabled. The primary PvP server will be The Dead Vault (East Coast). If you are concerned about lag from the West Coast or if The Dead Vault is full, please choose Union of Shadow (West Coast).

• The corpses of NPCs killed by guard NPCs will now quickly decay since they are not lootable by players.
  
• Adjusted water physics a bit so the player doesn't go quite as deep when falling into the water, which makes falls into water a bit more survivable than before.
  
• Trying to salvage something that isn't salvageable should show a message now.
  
• Reduced the font size of the title on quest journal header so NPC quest givers with longer names should fit better, such as Foreman Aldeus.
  
• Player pets will no longer move to attack targets that are deemed too far away.
  
• Adjusted drag and drop a bit so that there needs to be a bit more movement before dragging begins, which should mean less instances where you drag a hot bar ability by mistake when you were just trying to click on it to activate it.

We are pleased to share with you the planned roadmap for Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen[www.pantheonmmo.com] for the remainder of 2025. As we drive hard toward release, our primary focus is on efficient production and timely delivery of new content.

To ensure a steady stream of fresh and engaging experiences, we are committed to releasing new content every six to eight weeks, as outlined in the roadmap below. Last year, through extensive organization and effort, we were able to deliver Early Access, and now, we have applied even more detailed planning for 2025.

This roadmap reflects our best, most efficient path to achieving the v1 release of Pantheon. The order of delivery might not be everyone’s preferred priorities, but we are confident it is the best plan to bring us to launch. If we acquire more resources, we are prepared to accelerate our progress even further. We will share the 2026 roadmap at a later date.
