Thrustmaster t300rs detected like a gamepad
Hi,
I've been googling around quite alot but not found a solution. I think my wheel is detected as gamepad rather that a wheel. I don't have the soft lock option in settings. I believe that is for automatically setting the maximum turns on the wheel like in any decent racing sim. Running latest frimware. 29.0 Driver 2.10.9.0. I've been changing usb2/3 ports. disabling controller on steam games settings. attached ditached t500 pedals and th8a shifter... Switch is in PS3 position... I've also tried to delete the games folder in my home dir. What might help?

EDIT: Here are the screenshots to clarify this problem. The wheel does work but not e.g. the soft lock. Also works fine on other sims like rfactor2, race07, assetto corsa...

Thanks for the suggestion BUT windows reinstall doesn't reallly sound something I want to do right now... Windows 10 :( If it is OS related it could be something about devices in windows... and ofcourse something about Dirt Rally too. One thing I might give a lottery ticket odds some day and check if removing the gaming devices in safe mode would help... Still some carbage might be left in registry... I would even rather install linux on another disk and try the game there since linux installation is so much easier vs the freekin bloat cleanup in win10.:steamsalty:

Hello
I have the same problem with a TX. This to work well until the moment I re-install Dirt Rally for a problem in VR:-(
If I find a solution I will come to give it;-)

BTW Steam input for the game on or off? Setting in Steam: Library->Games->R.click Dirt Rally-> Properties...) Also the wheel looks like a game pad in steam input settings...

I solved my problem by disconnecting my Lenovo VR headset which made me review my steering wheel in the list in dirt rally. I then reconnect my VR headset and everything works normally;-)

Ok. Now all I need is to buy a VR headset :D

Removing the devices from device manager, folder from Documents, steam game folder and user folder <some number here> AND reinstalling the game, and thrustmaster drivers did not help either. Codemasters please fix T300RS support!!!

could steams native controler support be interfering somehow? never seen this with my t300. Controll support in my steam is all disabled, besides the top check box, on my system for ds4win (ps4 controller still gets messed up in some old games otherwise.)

Cobalt Mongoose: Thanks for the input. I have messed around with the steam controller settings quite a bit too. There the wheel looks like a gamepad too... I wonder if I have something in windows 10 that is not enabled or configured properly... Or Dirt is just f'd up in it's way of interfacing controllers compared to other sims. I think I have disabled some xbox related stuff in win10... I should look more on that maybe... And that is only because there were so much other stuff that needs to be disabled just for the sake of being so unnecessary. God I hate win10 and rather would use almost any linux distro if they just could handle gaming and proper video playback... To be honest my focus is back in csgo now quite a bit... Driving a real car is so much more enjoyable... Missing the G forces with the simple wheel/pedal/stick combo :D Some advanced technics I still want to practice like heel and toe and left foot braking in other sims too so I don't ram my one and only "do it all" - car when I get the need for speed on silent hours IRL :D

Think i´ve a similiar, or the same, problem.
A few days ago, my T300 began to works wrong. After many tries and searches to locate the issue, i finish deduced that the problem was that Windows isn´t using the TM drivers.
I realized of that cause if i only plug the USB and let W10 install his drivers, the wheel works by the same way that if i install the TM drivers.
After reading your post, could be possible that, from a strange reason, Windows thinks that the base is a gamepad.
This issue started after update Windows to 1809 compilation, and this also happened too the last year with Creator´s Update ( 1803 ).

BTW, to me don´t work in any game. For example, on AC is almost impossible to exit from boxes cause the car begins to spinf from rear wheels. Then, when i want to pick a curve, after turn the wheel more than 90º ( left or right, it´s the same ), the base lost the FFB and seems like "dead", not responding to the dregrees, stucking on that 90º. If i spin it at all, don´t d nothing till comes back to the range of that 90º, and then, comes to the center of a blow.

Martin Tm. If I understood correctly your problem is even worse than mine. Luckily I have FFB and wheel like control. Just makes me wonder how well ffb works if steam or Dirt treats my wheel like a gamepad....

In this vid for example, you can see how i´m doing donuts, but even though i turn the wheel to the opposite direction, the car don´t respond till i turn it all. It´s like the game don´t "read" those movements.

In this vid from AC too, i show how the wheel after exceed thos 90º "deads":

This is what happens on Raceroom:

This vids were made to Thrustmaster support, and his answer was "Works how should work"

Hope you like my pijama. XDD

Hum...... I could have checked too in Dirt Rally if i don´t have neither the Soft Lock option.. This evening i´ll check it.

Does someone knows how fails this, or any base, by issues with usb controllers?
Cause i´m thinking that 2 weeks ago ( +/- ) i plugged a shifter in the same USB port what i was plugging the wheel, and change the wheel to a motherboard 2.0 USB port, and i remember to found Automobilista harder ( in terms of strength ) to drive and less precise the FFB.
Very similiar, or the same, such as in Assetto Corsa....
