night rally and lights!
is it just me or does the light beam not shine far enough up the road...to me its like the beam is only 10 feet in front of my car so navigation is very tough..can we put full beam on some how?

I noticed this in the Mini Cooper 2010 class car last night. I honestly mashed some buttons fishing for a high beam switch because it seemed so deliberately low beam. I tried different camera styles as well and all were really low. The car was on low beam fresh from the start - it was not due to damage.

I had no problem with that. Mine is, i use bumper view and with snow and light i can not see the road. All is bright white. I searched for the light switch too.
But as i can not see much i just have to wait for a crash and then the lights are out. *gg

Truth be told, driving at night without any lights/reflective surfaces other than your car will be really dark, even with high beams. You'll be surprised just how much the reflective inserts in streets help light up your environment.
Now with that being said, it is a tad dim but I feel it adds to the excitement ;)

I haven't noticed the lights being too dim, so far I've only driven night with the 60s Mini and the Escort Mk II

Anyone complaining about how dark the nights are has never driven in an area without ambient lighting. That much is pretty obvious.

Certain stages of Greece at night are really bright for "night", but the sunset is visible in a few of them so perhaps they aren't meant to be pitch dark.

Actually, having done a fair share of night driving IRL, I feel like DR is pretty damn realistic in this regard.

I find the lighting at night pretty good. Actually I was really scared on the first night race but once it started I found visibility better than expected.

However, I sometimes have massive trouble seeing at sunset (sunrise?) .
Some of the shadowed sections in greece seem to have nearly zero contrast.

The night driving and lights is well implimented.

The lighting was great until I crashed... :Excrement_Item:

Someone said exciting.
I'd say driving at night on dark dirt country roads whilst trying to go crazy fast
is more terror than excitement.

especially when it appears my rig only has two headlights right there in front
where trees like to reach out and slap at them as I drive by.
It might be a bit less terrorific if I had spares up on the roof.

I keep telling my co-pilot to bring spare bulbs but he keeps forgetting.
I share the impression that this game graphically makes night-racing the best I have yet had the pleasure of playing :

and here some food for thought:

should you have problems: go get your monitor dialed in!

Why am I saying this? Because 15 years since the transition to flat-screens began there are still monitors/screens/TVs to be found on sale - and quite a few of them - that do not reproduce acurate colour and even sillyier: most that indeed are technically capable of showing them come pre-configured to NOT do so.

It is a hassle. That was what made snow-rally in RBR a chore for me way back when. Today on a reasonably-inexpensive - yet carefully selected - IPS monitor: no problem!

So before you go on a rant, think about your personal set-up: Did you actually take your time, setting it up?

If you have your shader settings set to "ultra low" in the graphics options, the throw from your headlights will be GREATLY diminished during night stages.. Move it up one notch and you'll see the difference.

Generally, the lighting is pretty well implemented in this game. However, I agree that the 2010 Mini is simply missing the high beam that Rally Cars must have. So it's pretty much useless at night. This must be a bug or something.

On the one hand, challenge must be kept away from punishing. On the other hand you won't see much IRL with no lights either.

Is this in the 2010 Mini? In general I have found the cars have very good and realistic night lighting. But the 2010 Mini Countryman just doesn't have powerful enough lights for night rallying, as said above. It is like the lights are on dim. It is missing the light bar that the other cars have at night, but even standard headlights on full beam should shine a bit farther.
