Gears popping into neutral with H-shifter?

I'm cruising along in 3rd gear and it randomly pops into neutral, I have to fumble around to get it back into gear. Doesn't matter which car I drive, but it doesn't seem to happen if I'm using paddle shfiters. It also doesn't seem to have anything to do with damage, sometimes it will happen within the first 20 seconds of a race. This doesn't happen in any of the other games I've played (Assetto Corsa, Project Cars), so I don't think it's my G27. Unstable gears happening to anyone else?

Yup...happens to me as well...usually when i shift into second...I had this prob with Grid Autosport too...but no other games...G27 here

Don't damage your car :)

They used to pop out very often before but now they have fixed it. It happens only when you have damaged gearbox or just when you didn't time the clutch properly. Keep practising, it barely happens to me.

I really don't think it has anything to do with vehicle damage... it doesn't explain why this will happen sometimes at the beginning of a race, even when I'm being easy on the engine/trans. I know that Dirt Rally is sensitive to clutch usage because clutch axis hasn't been implemented yet and you need to stomp the clutch all the way down to shift. However, sometimes the gearbox will pop into neutral when I'm not shifting at all, like I'm just driving along in a straight line in the middle of 3rd gear and suddenly I'm in neutral for no reason.

If it were a feature, I'd at least be able to figure out when it's more likely to pop out of gear. But I just can't seem to figure out the pattern, it really seems to happen randomly.

Does anyone who uses anything other than a G27 experience this at all?

This is related to vehicle damage. I use a Thrustmaster T500RS with the TH8A shifter, and if my gearbox is damaged it will pop out of gear randomly as well. It rarely happens though.

Nope. Has nothing to do with those and despite the recent patch tried to address this issue it still happens with the G27 just like it was in Grid Autosport too. Devs are long due to fix this problem that is not present in other racing games.

100% car and 15-20s into the stage sometimes and not when shifting. Known bug with the G27.

I get frustrated seeing this response. I, along with many others, get gears "popping" out as soon as the race starts, no damage whatsoever, not in the middle of an event, nothing. BRAND NEW STAGE. And my shifter goes to Neutral.

Furthermore, given the number of instances this issue has cropped up for others (including what I've been able to find on the internet), I'm surprised the devs haven't actually addressed this at all. It leads me to believe that this may be a bug rather than a feature...

"Fix – If you’re using a H-Pattern with clutch setup, the game no longer shifts to neutral when contact with your kit is lost."
suggests that the game randomly looses contact with the controller long enough to change into neutral.

I also had badly worn linkage in my G25 shifter which made it very frequent in 1st / 2nd gears. the switch for 3rd/4th was obviously just touching and a jiggle would try to select 3rd or 4th knocking out of 1st/2nd.
Had to fix hardware

Yeah I remember reading that with the last patch and was excited for the issue to be fixed... unfortunately it didn't seem to have any effect and it's just as bad as before.

I bought my G27 a couple months ago, so I'd be surprised if I'm already having hardware issues. If it's a hardware thing, I'd expect the issue to arise in other games I play such as Assetto Corsa or pCars, but that is not the case.
