Pikes Peak Setups
I thought I'd share my Pikes Peak setup for the Peugeot 405
I was getting frustrated with the understeer whilst under deceleration so I tried some basic setup adjustments and managed to save 10 seconds of my best time to get a 8:47.862 and I can easily see me shaving off another 5-10 seconds if I can get that perfect run.

The car still has a push going into corners under deceleration (compared to the Audi) so any advice on how to make those front tiers stick better would be appreciated.

I’m using a G25 wheel with sequential shifting and no assists.

I'm certainly no expert but since the experts ain't giving much away this is a start if you are having trouble with taming the 405

Here some screen shots of the changes I have made

Only -0.5 camber in front? Put that to -2.5 or -3, and soften the front. If the physics is done correctly, soft front and harder rear susp results in more oversteer/less understeer.

cant believe you run that much front brake bias

That helps to keep the car more stable under braking but makes turning in harder. With full front brake bias basically you can either brake or turn. On tarmac it's not really a problem.

i was under the assumption that the games physics model that if you run too much front brake bias stopping distances would be increased. i use 50/50 and 1 notch to the left of default for pressure

I've found that on Tarmac with the 405 I lock the brakes up less with this much front bias and hence I achieve short breaking distances. I guess since the weight is transfered onto the front wheels under braking, that is where the best grip will always be.

If I need to use any brake to turn the car I just stab the handbrake but I'm pretty sure that if you need to get the car sideways it will slow you down. The only exception maybe for those extremely tight hairpins but even then I too much sideways will slow you down

I definitely use 50/50 or even notch more to rear bias if on dirt

Thanks for the advice CTR69, I will definitely try those suggestions

I've uploaded the replay to YouTube..my first upload lol but you can see all those little moments I had and times where I was a bit tender footed as I'm still learning the corners. You'll see that shaving off another 10 seconds is quite achievable with this setup.

You'll also note that I short shift and use a higher gear then needed to help control traction

I`m confused. In the first post you say you did 8:47.862 in the Peugeot 405. In the video you have the exact same time in the Peugeot 205 T16. Which one is it, and have you maybe mixed up the settings you shared too? Just asking. We all do mistakes ;)

Nice video! Watched it to the end ;) Thanks for sharing.

Cheers :)

It's just a typo, the car you see in the video is the 405. It has six gears (205 has five) plus read the description:
"This is my best run after tweaking my set-up to reduce the under steer of the 205 T16."

To say the least with the 205 PP understeer is the last thing you'll ever encounter. ;)

Thanks for clearing that up! :) Both title and description in video says 205,
so I was not sure what was the typo ;)

Cheers :)

I don't have any clue of cars, well a little but not much but can't understand your racing language, can you publish the updated setup, all the 3, thanks again for your help.
