This game is meant to be pure rally, which means you're running against time. Codemasters decided to keep it pure this time because the DiRT series was getting more childish at each game, with DiRT Showdown being the epithome of stupidity with all that X-GAME WHOA DUDE MOUNTAIN DEW mentality and destruction-derby like races. But, gladly, they're coming back to their roots now, rally as it always should be.
So, no, you won't see any AI cars in this game, sorry about that. And there is multiplayer already, you can compete with your stage times against people all around the world through the online challenges.
So yes, you will be able to race other drivers.
All of the planned content can be seen here: https://www.dirtgame.com/uk/timeline
Yeah, dude above already corrected me.
I've been a fan of the DIRT series for a long time, and this version is superb. Bravo Codemasters!
I would be interested in a running order in the way you can only see split times of cars running ahead of you, but otherwise I'd rather the programming work go into how the AI times are calculated instead of how they physically drive.
In my opinion rallycross is one of the more exciting things to be happening in motorsport at the moment. I welcome a more serious take on it. It's most popular in Scandinavia, western Europe and the UK, so a more "sim" take on it is hopefully likely to be rather devoid of Ken Block and his mates saying "sick" and selling you energy drinks.
Ooh yes indeedy!
Don't feel apologetic. Dirt 2 (and 3) was great fun at release. There is no comparison to Dirt Rally although many still make it to try and make a point...
