Reverse gear on automatic
So.. Just one little gripe I have with backing my car up after spinning out. I play with automatic because I'm a scrub. (Deal with it :3 )
As I recall from the old CMR games, you held down the brake pedal, once the car came to a full stop, it would automatically go into reverse which was just easier to get you back on the road again. While in this, I press down the brake, stop. Have to release the pedal fully and then press it back down again to start backing up. And if you don't release it fully, you'll have to do it again.

I don't know if this is just me remembering the wrong thing or if I have crazy dreams of how I would prefer the game to work. But possibly getting an option for this somewhere in the menus? :3

Yeah this is a small thing that bugs me too.

I don't mind it. After you come to a stop, a second press of the brake/reverse button and you're in gear and reversing. Consider it to be your driver shifting into reverse, which you have to do regardless of having an Automatic ;)

The problem is not as much that but more than once I've had to press my foot down more than once because I apparently didn't release the pedal all the way. Which is an even bigger waste of time. It's just.. pretty annoying :p

Very major issue indeed. I want to be be able to reverse in gear even if my car is still moving!!
because sometime I slide sideways and I need to reverse to avoid cliff, But I just cant because my car is moving DUH!

so getting a car into reverse gear while it's still moving generally isn't possible. Not sure about on rally cars, so being able to select reverse while going forwards at 20mph isn't really a consideration for me.
While I accept that I can look at the double-brake to find reverse as the shifting time, it is very frustrating if you come to a complete stop, let go of the brake in order to tap it again, but in that time the car is on an incline and so starts rolling at 0.01mph and you have to stop again.
If you're going less than 1mph then you should be able to find reverse.

Hand brake.

So just choose semi auto gears, or whatever it's called (next to automatic) It's the same as automatic, only you have the option to click up or down gears, it's like having the pseudo manual option in a road car that's otherwise an automatic.

Also, don't think that slamming it into reverse to stop yourself going headlong into a cliff is going to work - it will *ALWAYS* be faster to brake than it will to have your wheels spinning in reverse.

... sliding sideway with the odometer at 0, car moving but cant reverse

Welcome to an automatic gearbox.

What drives me nuts is how long it takes to get the car to go into reverse. I use sequnetial manual shifting and when I hit a tree or something and come to a dead stop it takes almost 5-6 pulls of the paddle to get the damn car to go into reverse. It's like it's trying to add a pause to make sure I really want reverse, but as I'm in manual mode yes, thank you, I want reverse. Adds an extra 2-3 seconds just to get the damn thing in reverse then back into drive when I'm ready to go.

I suppose if that's my only big gripe it's a pretty damn good game then huh? I will also say getting the feel in my Thrustmaster TX wheel has been a challenge, and while it's okay now it's no where near as good as any of the other sims I play.
