dont drift around acute corners more than 60 degrees (shorts 3s to long, half 1s), you lose time.
This.
The steering is very sensitive (using controller, but keyboard too) --- is the steering wheel better?
For example, sometimes I want to make a tiny adjustment, but when pushing on controller stick, the car is thrown way too much! Conversely, when I do need to turn a lot, it feels like the car is not turning far enough (this is less of a problem though).
A steering wheel is loads better at fine adjustment and full lock turning because it has a further physical travel range it also has more range in-game. It just make it a lot better to control the vehicle precisely the pedals also help to make precise throttle control.
The downside is they are expensive but i was lucky enough to pick one up on a 2nd hand site for a bargain if you are able to do the same i would suggest it you will find it a much more enjoyable experience .
