Assigning Handbrake to Joystick
Is it possible to assign the handbrake to a joystick axis, I am using G27 and have a joystick I can rig up but just wondered if anyone has already tried this.

I have been looking for a way to do exactly this, the handbrake currently seems to be button / keypress assignment only (on or off) if anyone has a workaround please post.
thanks

I was going to post into the suggestions but wanted to make sure this was not already possible before doing that. The button for handbrake is too digital I would prefer an option for an analog axis to assign it to.

Yes it is possible. I have the T300 GTE with Logitech G27 Pedals with the Leo Bodnar Adapter and use the Brake axis of the original T300 Pedals as Handbrake, i built a handel on my Raceseat and move the pedal via a cable System and it works very good.

You could set up your joystick to work with a program like Xpadder.

Set the handbrake key on your keyboard to the direction you want it to work with for your joystick, select prioritize vertical under settings for that axis, change the diagonal size to your liking, maybe add a bit of a deadzone, and you're good to go.

I have put in a suggestion as I would prefer this as an option in-game, so I can just plug a usb joystick in along with the g27 and assign an axis to an for an analogue brake.

The xpadder may be the route i try if it's not included in the final game. Thanks for the responses.

already done, I'm using analog handbrake. They could do with adding a slider for deadzone and max for the handbrake.

I wasn't happy with key assignment for handbrake, got a leo bodnar cable for pedals, run sequential gearbox off paddles, and assigned clutch axis to handbrake, so once you get used to it, you have pressure sensitive control, which is handy for tighter hairpins and acute corners. As for joystick, I'll check it out, as long as game will allow more than 1 controller, which it obviously does for the pedal set, then it shouldn't be an issue. Most sims nowadays allow up to 3 controllers.

Lol yeah it's not gonna win any beauty contests. But it does exactly what it is meant to and cost almost nothing to make.
Hey Kevlar,
did you have to modify the joystick electronics, or was it just the handle ?
