Undrivable with arrow keys
I really enjoyed the first 3 Dirt games, driving with arrow keys. I never felt the inability to control the car with those games that I do with this one. Needs work, for sure. (The car won't even hold a straight line). This all works fine with Dirt 1, which seems equally sim-y and I'm sure had a much less sophistaced engine.

Maybe part of the problem is starting with a 60s POS. The 60s rally cars are quaint history when one wants a challenge of patience, not really a fun or easy car to start with. The 80s and 90s (or Group A, I guess) cars have always been a better place to start. As it stands, career mode isn't available to me.

So far, this just makes me want Dirt 1 with modern graphics, and playing this one is a chore. Oh, well, I'm sure the dev team is working on it - I'll try back again in a while.

I have a wheel, i have a real car, i have knowledge about and experience, try to uderstand points, if u want more people ingame and sells u need to make ur best for people on keys and pads.
Make advice and solution.
All sims can be adapted well for keys - yes u will not get best records but game can be comfortable.
When u press key up for example its not 100% acc btw, same with turns, its a curves if devs make for players options for that people will find there spot for optimal controls.
The problems with physics devs say about that on streams and people with right experience can notice it immediately.

"All sims can be adopted well for keys"

Mate, I don't know what you're drinking but it must be awesome stuff.

I don't think this is the rally game you're looking for, mate.

This is what I don't get. People seem to think keyboard support should be a priority lol.
Here's a direct quote from another thread on here.

I my oppionion is a good keybord support the first input-device that developers should implement in a game. And after that all that Pads and wheels.

Too ridiculous....

Playing Sims with a keyboard... let alone considering keyboards to be the "main priority" controller for them.... Normally I try hard to be respectful of other people, but that's just ridiculous.

It's like a Federal Government ignoring a need for better Mobile Phone Networks to buy more rocks, because a small minority of people living in a cave somewhere are still using rocks and demanded better support for rock users.

If I took a USB cable, plugged one end into my PC and the other end into a Potato, and then drew buttons on the Potato, it would not be a viable game controller, it would be a Potato. A keyboard is a keyboard, not a steering wheel; for typing snide posts to meaningless threads on dead-end vidya forums, not driving cars. Anybody who uses it to drive is a fool or extremely poor.

This whole thread should come down to these few words:

Analog vs Digital.

That is it. If someone thinks that a digital input method will be in any way comparable to analog they do not know what they are talking about.

Simply put: Digital input (keyboard) recognizes two states, on and off. There is no pressure, there is no nuance and there never will be, unless you get a pressure sensitive keyboard (which I think are hapening at some point).

I've got the keyboard basics down. Now to repeat, to get the routine down for practice and I'll be setting Alien (or near) times.... that I can't really compare A.T.M. to other players, but can say that they are (going to be) "fast" (times). It's nice to hear (I think, except if you're "poor" like me, JK) that there are people dabbling in and with various digital input methods. Makes me remember the virtue of Digi.Tale.

I'm better with keyboard than with Controller and I'm not using the arrow keys, just wasd for movement, acceleration and brake + Space for Handbrake.

I can guarantee you nobody at the top of the online leaderboards is using a keyboard.

lol what? You just claimed you can set "Alien times" with a keyboard.

RaceSim + Keyboard as Controller = Firstperson Shooter with Gamepad as Controller
u can try it, but the others with the right controllers are always in advantage

People can do whatever they put their mind into. Plus the (right) routine plus the right tools, yes. You can do it too...

I'm planning to buy a racing wheel in the (near) future, just for this game! That's how much I like it, the only thing is I don't have the money to buy a "good" one just yet.

It would be awesome if Codemasters partner with one of them to make a nice wheel to promote their game, I would love to buy one of those if the quality is good (200-300 euro)
