Please can we have a VW Beetle in the game?

Yah, Plus 1 on this.
When I had a choice for a first car, that is reason I picked the closest thing to a Beetle I saw,
the Mini Cooper S.

It rolls around real good when flipped. Hah.

Though, I got to wonder... were there ever any competive Beetle rigs in rally races in the past?

The Beetle just has such charisma. I'd love to see it in-game, with such an adaptable chassis I can't imagine you couldn't make an effective rally bug.

man I remember how I always loved to drive a Beetle 2.0 in gran turismo.. totally irrelevant but I'll vote +1 , be it 2.0 or classic that is.

Well, I had a Beetle Super Compact in Forza Horizon 2. It had a 7.5 litre Chevy LSA with a Twin Turbo, 927 horsepower/over 1000 NM. Awesome little car, have loved Beetles ever since.

But they can work to get the licenses, and since Codemasters are one the the biggest names in PC Rally games they should not have too much trouble getting all the licenses they want.

I am a huge fan of the Beetle and would definitely buy DiRT rally if they had one in there. Hear that devs? You may just lose a potentially loyal customer! Please have a cute little bug for me to hurl around on some rally course! It is all I ask for...

Fun car, but I don't like the way RR cars handle. Same goes for Porsches.

Sorry, but the Beetle was not fast car in rally. In folk racing it was and dominated over 2 decades in Finland. But anyway it would be fun. Car is quite different to drive and very enjoyable. It's like a Porsche with more agility.

In practice, it would be a pretty good car for the 1960's category as a cheapo entry car. Now, if you wanted a rear-engined car that's actually fast enough to be good at it, i'd suggest either an Hillman Imp or an Abarth tuned FIAT 600.
