Oh, I didn't know that. For some reason, the game tends to crash when I press Start on the controller (Early Access and all that...), so I avoid doing that for the most part, and have only gotten a look at the menu a couple of times when it didn't crash, and I guess I overlooked that option.
But even then, just pressing a button to reset the car instead of having to open the menu is a lot less of a hassle.
I'd say get rid of the timer, and don't do auto-resets. (Why are those even a thing? I got reset while slightly touching some snow somewhere, and once on a oversteer in a hair pin oO)
The automatic reset countdown has only caught me once. It would be nice if it were removed, but I imagine it's there to enforce level boundaries (so that you can never reach the level walls).
it's so freaking annoying
+1
The reason behind this: you would have a chance to glance at your surroundings, take a breath and remember the location and the distance that you traveled off-track! PLUS: you won't waste any "stage-time" getting disorientated.
Likewise, should you beach your car without the game-engine noticing you should have to press that button TWICE. Because nothing is more depressing than accidentally pressing that button at full tilt without needing a reset! Same idea: let's pause that game and ask the question:
"you hit the reset-button" -- "what now!?"
