Lancia Stratos setup
Hello guys,

Purchased the Lancia Stratos yesterday and I am having difficult times setting it up. Strange thing happens on bumpy staights - the car just loses the steering wheel force without any ways to counter steer. As a result it goes off the road.

Maybe someone can help me, what can be done to eliminate this effect when wheel becomes light after the bump and cannot counter steer properly. Thanks.

On what stage in particular? I'll check it out and see what I can come up with. Could you share screenshots of your setup so we see where it could use some tweaking?

Wales first stage. I have not unlocked advanced setup yet, but I am using rear Brake bias and strong Differential (to make somewhat of mix between oversteer and understeer), soft suspension and dampening. The car behaves normally, like 1960's Fulvia, but it looses any ability to counter steer and catch dangerous slides on bumpy straights.

So I don't know the reason of this, maybe it is wrong suspension setup and it should be firm instead of Soft, maybe something wrong with the FFB and steering wheel.

The Stratos drives really well with a rather stiff suspension imo, try something like this: http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/6184914226291635020/D202346342727A0B2E49F397229D5B5AE5B46C07/

I also altered the adv. setup, for more info check this one out: http://steamcommunity.com/app/310560/discussions/0/594820656472266882/

Thanks a lot, I will give it a try.

You are best to learn to drive he car before you start fiddling with the setup options.

The problem you are describing is indicative of too much throttle at the wrong time.
Even on a straight you have to lift off the throttle over the bumps and jumps until you have a stable planted vehicle.

Only once you can drive the car consistently with the default setup can you start making adjustments and evaluate the effect of your adjustments .

I'm actually using the default setup and have found it to be pretty good

Thank you very much Chocoloco, I have copied your setup and the Stratos is completely different now. It was a good idea of yours to compensate RWD oversteering by high Front Brake Bias and low Differential values with stiffer suspension. Works really good and I don't loose the control of the steering wheel anymore. Great setup.

Hey, I'm really glad I could help! :)

Of course you can adept to the default setup, most of them are pretty useful (except Impreza for example). But if you're willing to invest some time to become familiar with setup tuning you'll find that you can indeed turn that around and fit the car to your driving style, not the other way around. And you'll be a lot faster with that. Some bumps on straights should just be taken flat out and be no reason to slow down ;)

Oh I do agree with you choco. My advice was more based on learning how to set the car up yourself. I'm only now after a couple of hours behind the wheel of the Stratos just starting to tweek the setup. Because I now understand the car I can now feel the differences with each change and hence able to set the car up to suit my style. Before that i wasn't sure if it was just my poor driving skills in mid engine RWD car.

The other reason to get used to the default setup as that I what you have to use in the online daily and weekly comps

True, actually I stopped driving the Online events since I started setup tuning because of that.
