Mini Countryman bugged?
OK, I've been helplessly falling in love with this game since completing a championship in a Lancia Stratos.

Now I moved to Elite championships and gave the Mini Countryman a go and... what is wrong with that thing? Driving it down a Monte Carlo stage feels like a weekend drive.

I'm pushing like a mad man (no, honestly, I don't think I can push it any bit harder), it just won't go! It feels huge, heavy and by gods, SLOW! More often than not I was finishing the professional events around 2nd in the Stratos, now I'm losing 30-40 seconds per stage, barely enough for a top 6. It ain't the AI difficulty as I can easily win an Elite event in, say, a 4WD Escort. What is it then? A bug? Codies just really hate the Countryman? Whazzup?

(Not a show-stopper for me, just curious, thanks!)

It's lazy as hell without any upgrades, but I actually like it more than the Fiesta in the long run. Damn hard to win championships because of the car class difficulty tho.

The ALS issue is interesting, had no idea. The class-dependent difficulty is news to me as well. Thanks for your replies lads, good ones too!

To combat the lazyness of the mini you need to shorten your gears. Rumor even has it that the Mini is faster than the Fiesta

I'm only slightly slower with the Mini than the Fiesta even though it *feels* much slower. But I think part of that is the camera position, the Mini's is very high, the Fiesta's pretty low, and the lower the camera, the faster it looks.

It also seems overly stable, which supports that feeling that you're going slow. But it's faster than it feels.

And as others have said, the 2010's AI is bloody difficult compared to most other classes.

Yep. I use the shortest ratio for almost all the stages.

Well the AI is relatively harder in 2010 class.

But Mini is flawed, the als is total crap -> nonexistet torque in lower rpm. Sequential shifting is also slower than in Fiesta (and IRL).

Here's real life demo of the Mini antilag:

Wow, never saw exhausts glowing red from anti-lag before.

I run the 2015 mini with the gear ratio as short as possible, with an exception to German stages. I get just as good or better times with the MINI than the FIESTA. Everyone uses the Fiesta and swears it's better....it's not really.

Both the 2010 cars need to be fully upgraded to be anywhere near competitive then it's down to personal preferance.
I find the Mini understeers too much for my personal driving style.
The Fiesta can be too twitchy though.

Thanks all, very insightful! I've now got the weight reduction and engine upgrades, hanging around top 3 in Elite championships and having an absolute blast. The Countryman is not as 'wild at heart' as the Fiesta but I find it more satisfying if one gets it right.

Short gearing does make it a tad better, thanks for that!

It's beautiful to pendulum turn with aswell.
Very satisfying and a lot of fun

The Mini does feel slow but according to my findings it's almost as fast overall as the Fiesta:

03:54.207 - Ford Fiesta RS Rally
03:54.390 - Mini Countryman Rally Edition
