Chromatic Aberration and Post AA
This game is great but the lack of visual clarity is offputting. How do you disable chromatic abberation and post AA? We need to be able to turn this ♥♥♥♥ off. I don't know why developers keep insisting on forcing this garbage on us.

I'd toss the 'Brown Filter' onto the same trash-heap. Switching it off would massively improve the look of the game, especially Germany and Pikes' Peak.

Chromatic Abberation ?? do you mean Sun Flare ??

I hate this virtual lense crap too, especially the dirty lense effect and lense flare.

btw. CA is separation of colors because of diffraction index inside a lense => purple / green edges on images...

I managed to remove Vignette, Lens Flares, Lens Dirt and Streaks post process by modifying the effects.xml file.

And that's already quite the improvement.

I didn't notice any CA thankfully. There is CA in the UI. But not in the rest of the game afaik.

I have no experience in modding but I would love to learn. I would like to make a natural mod.
No camera lens distortion effects. This is a simulation not a movie!

Hey Haste... could you share your Effects.XML ?

I'd love to see a screenshot of before and after

Umm...I have no idea what any of this means. Can you explain in simple terms?

Chromatic Aberration is a visual effect you occasionally see in games; it's a slight discoloured blur around the edges of objects-it's supposed to replicate digital photography. A lot of players hate it, and wish you could turn it off-I'm one of them.

From Google and photographylife: "Chromatic Aberration, also known as “color fringing” or “purple fringing”, is a common optical problem that occurs when a lens is either unable to bring all wavelengths of color to the same focal plane, and/or when wavelengths of color are focused at different positions in the focal plane"

And here's a picture of really extreme Aberration:

hmmmmm....I do not have any of these problems that the OP is complaining about...the game lookls fantastic in any kind of weather. Perhaps his problem is his video card ,which by the way he has not stated what he does use.

A slight correction - chromatic aberration is not exclusive to digital photography. It is caused by the simple fact that the individual colors of the spectrum refract at slightly different angles. In any application where lenses are used, you can encounter chromatic aberration. You can see it with classic old lenses on old photographs. You can see it in telescopes. You can see it on TV. You can even see it in the biggest Hollywood blockbusters. Lens manufacturers use various methods to get rid of chromatic aberrations as much as possible. Usually, the cheaper and more simple the lens is, the worse chromatic aberration it has, but it's more complicated than that.

It's actually kinda funny - when it comes to real life, we try very hard to get rid of any signs of chromatic aberration. It's a flaw, not a feature. Yet game developers love the effect for some reason.

Same usually goes for lens flares, dirty lens effect and plenty of other effects.
