I hate this virtual lense crap too, especially the dirty lense effect and lense flare.
btw. CA is separation of colors because of diffraction index inside a lense => purple / green edges on images...
And that's already quite the improvement.
I didn't notice any CA thankfully. There is CA in the UI. But not in the rest of the game afaik.
I have no experience in modding but I would love to learn. I would like to make a natural mod.
No camera lens distortion effects. This is a simulation not a movie!
Chromatic Aberration is a visual effect you occasionally see in games; it's a slight discoloured blur around the edges of objects-it's supposed to replicate digital photography. A lot of players hate it, and wish you could turn it off-I'm one of them.
From Google and photographylife: "Chromatic Aberration, also known as “color fringing” or “purple fringing”, is a common optical problem that occurs when a lens is either unable to bring all wavelengths of color to the same focal plane, and/or when wavelengths of color are focused at different positions in the focal plane"
And here's a picture of really extreme Aberration:

check his profile, its right there.
A slight correction - chromatic aberration is not exclusive to digital photography. It is caused by the simple fact that the individual colors of the spectrum refract at slightly different angles. In any application where lenses are used, you can encounter chromatic aberration. You can see it with classic old lenses on old photographs. You can see it in telescopes. You can see it on TV. You can even see it in the biggest Hollywood blockbusters. Lens manufacturers use various methods to get rid of chromatic aberrations as much as possible. Usually, the cheaper and more simple the lens is, the worse chromatic aberration it has, but it's more complicated than that.
It's actually kinda funny - when it comes to real life, we try very hard to get rid of any signs of chromatic aberration. It's a flaw, not a feature. Yet game developers love the effect for some reason.
Same usually goes for lens flares, dirty lens effect and plenty of other effects.
I still want to get rid of those...
has anyone managed to mod the XML and want to share it ?
