Brake fade simulated?
Hi chaps,

Does this game simulate brake fade, the fluid boiling I mean.
Sometimes I think I'm not slowing down quickly at all but when I watch the replay the wheels aren't locked.

Good question, I don't feel brake fade but it would be a nice touch indeed.

It's seems to simulate everything else pretty well, would be strange that they missed that out. Although these cars aren't prone to brake fade in real life.

there's really not much braking, besides the german stages which are very much point and squirt.

It could be in the game, but even if it was, it'll take more than a few km for it to become an issue. RBR had brake fade and tire wear, but it wasn't scaled to the stage lengths in the game, so it really never comes into play. Where as you look at something like CMR05 and you could destroy your brakes and tires (without crashing/hitting anything) with normal use over a single stage. And I don't believe there was any stage in the game over 7-8km.

Which way to go about it I guess is a matter of opinion. One the one hand, in reality, these parts aren't going to start wearing out with the distances we drive in game. On the other, scaling them to the stage lengths, while it might not be real, it would give players a sense of tension that drivers might face in real life.

Personally, I say give us as many real life length stages as possible so these things do become [potential] issues we have to think about and balance. :p

Not sure about brake fade, but you can hear the brake's starting to squeel and feel the brakes become less efficent after a few stages of hard use.

Tried inducing fade/failure one day when bored,They glow red hot as per normal but still stop the same. The only one that felt different after much abuse was the Escort which can sound like metal on metal and felt like it was losing pressure. Most rally cars had some sort of brake cooling via venting to combat this.RBR was well ahead of it's time. R.I.P Mr Burns.
well, over the course of 2 back-to-back stages, things like brake fade should absolutely play a bigger role. When reading up on things/ watching the youtubes, people involved with real rallying will go over how one event sometimes wears down 2 sets of brake pads completely - if not more. Comes with left-foot-braking technique, I'd say!

Also: the chances to puncture your tyre. Would be swell if our driving-style throughout long stages had more influence on the probability than scruffing some "sand" on the side of the road.
