Co-Driver, "Don't cut" Query
I stopped playing DiRT for awhile and i just got back in, trying to configure the new FFB settings etc. and try the new Germany Rally (and i love tarmac here!). So i decided to reset my profile and start from 0.

I am saying all this cause in Germany i hear my Co-driver saying "Don't cut" in every corner. Literally he says it more often than i can blink. It is such an issue for me that whenever i hear him now i break, i just break hard, waiting for a turn that indeed needs me to cut speed.

My issue is, does he rally saying "Don't cut"? English is not my native language so maybe i don't translate it as is. If so please let me know. If he indeed says "Don't cut", do they really do this so often IRL and in Germany or everywhere? Cause i don't remember it that often in the other rallies to be honest.

If he indeed is saying "Don't cut", may i propose a change to "It's a trap!"? :P

Of course, this is an issue cause Germany is a Rally i am playing for the first time. So when i get familiarize with it, it'll be ok i guess.

Don't cut is a call for not cutting the corner due to an obstacle, lack of surface to drive on, etc...

It's very frequent on German stages because many corners have rocks on the inside, that you would hit if you cut the corner.

This is a real call-out.

Alright, so it means "don't cut the corner". That makes it really clear for me, understood. Very well explained. Thanks guys. cheers.

(My confusion came to be because i thought he meant "Don't cut speed".)

Yes, and he says it so often in Germany because some idiot put gravestones everywhere with the intention to kill anyone who leaves the road

In fact there is one square corner where the co-driver says "cut" on one of the German tracks.
But I think that is the only one I ever heard in the game.

'Cut' = you can basically leave the road with at least two wheels
'Don't cut' = there is an obstacle in the corner apex so stay away from it
'[silence]' = you can normally hang a wheel over the inside

Other useful ones:
'keep in' = after a corner, don't drift across the road, stay on the same side (to avoid a hazard or to set up better for the next corner)
'keep out' = the opposite, go as wide as possible on the corner exit, similar to 'be brave'

LOL :)

Although when he says don't cut you can still cut the edge of the corners especially when you have quick switch backs. Now germany and those big concrete blocks or stones really hurt when you get it wrong. Still one of my favorite rally along with montecarlo and Wales. Greece, well not good for me no matter what.

To be more precise the specific track that happens so often is called "Waldabstieg". (I hope i wrote it correctly)

Sometimes he's wrong though. Also sometimes when he says "be brave", DON'T listen! More caution than be brave.
