Works well on tarmac though.
edit: well I earned the Group B RWD championship achievement with it, so it can't be that bad.
It is faster on gravel (Powys, Argolis) than Lancia 037, and you can drive it fast on snowy Monaco as well as steering is very predictable.
I am the fan of those old cars, they have more style, they look cool, they are lighter and have same power as those WRCs.
Haven't tried the Seat and Peugeot Kitkars through but I am a bit sceptical of them being FWD.
It's always interesting to see how people prefer different cars. On gravel, for me the 037 is the God of everything, the Manta a perilous beast. Some love the Quattro and drive fast with it, I loathe it and even prefer the Metro. I'm tinkering with the settings to make the 037 controllable on tarmac, but in any way, it's the ultimate car for me.
Manta is like rallying Mercedes, smooth and comfortable, but you can push it to the limit if necessary.
BTW, somebody was asking about a speedometer in cockpit here. Manta has it on the center console and it works though graded to 200 km/h only. I've checked the speeds, typical speeds on Baumholder straights are 140 - 150 km/h.
Try to run Lancia 037 on Argolis stages and you will see what is dreadful on gravel, especially with low gear ratios and reasonably low final ratio. It will spin wheels like a hell and skid as well.
All the luck is that 037 rear wheels are very wide so you can catch moments before they go off the road.
Manta has much more controllable power distribution from gear to gear and the application of torque. I have done some research how Manta 400 was constructed - it appears to be a collaboration work of Irmscher (Opel's domestic factory tuner) and Cosworth engine plant.
if you want the best quality fiberglass bodykit and 400 bonnet around, my old company (until I took early retirement) that I started in 1999 Rallytech have the best stuff around. google Rallytech for their website
