Everything you have to do yourself if you want to have it done right.
And even the automatic can skip gears.
If you want to experience a super realistic simulation then:
A) none of the rally cars in game feature an automatic transmission
B) With the exception of only a very few, the large majority of the cars in game have h pattern shifters.
So if you want the game to be a pure sim so bad, maybe you should request they remove automatic all together and only allow sequential shifters on cars that really have them. Otherwise that entire quote contradicts your other posts.
That's a nice trick
I normally brake using gears and footbrake and haven't had any of the issues that OP is mentioning :D
sometimes i enter a corner in 3rd, but then i shift down into the corner. When the engine starts to stall i simply shift down further and then it's all good.
guess it's all about driving style.
That's true, but there are some instances when I wish I could change gears faster (not to mention that second gear change will not register when you hit the button/stick to early), and not de-accelerate too much using engine breaking, for example when aproaching hairpins and turns after long straights.
