DiRT Rally
Texture bugs?
I noticed some texture bugs after restarting a race/ crash into something / and sometimes just by driving by like a missig road, holes besides the track or textures blurring half of the screen.
Does anybody got the same problems? If this happends during a race the game isn't well playable :/

I purchased the game just a few days ago..
Same here. I get black parts of side of the road, instead of textures there. It only happens on certain parts of each track, but I could almost certainly say it's always the same parts. Happened before the update as well.
I'm running two AMD Radeons 7850 2GB each in crossfire, AMD FX 8120, Win 10. Drivers: 15.20.1062.1004-150803a-184226E

Another bug I'm experiencing is that the screen resolution does not change in game to the set one, it just stays on UHD for me [4k tv connected through HDMI]. Fe I run 3860/2160 on desktop [30p], I want to play in 1920/1080 59p, but if I don't change the desktop to that before launching the game, the racing screen res stays on UHD 30p., even though it's set to 1920/1080 in game [59 fps]. This one is more for the Codemaster's programmers, since the temporary fix is to just change the desktop res first.
Guys you are talking about two separate issue here.

What Sonozaki explained is probably looks like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kr_7y8oRTyI
That's a known issue that affects AMD graphics cards and is documented in the Catalyst 15.7.1 driver release notes:
[423378] Dirt Rally may show corruption in game textures after installing the V500 game update

The other one is what takathetuq posted:
http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/621849680559658445/4973E481FE484B0F861887C00E720D5E1B26DF28/
That is a bug in DiRT Rally. The reason for this to happen is due to bad cockpit camera position. As a result after a crash the seat can move into view, the big black texture you see is the backside of it.
Yeah the Video shows my problem.
Hope they can fix it soon..

That's an interesting issue as I have a very similar build. 4K TV (SAMSUNG UE40HU6900) with desktop resolution 3840x2160 at 60Hz, while I run the game in 2560x1440 at 59Hz through HDMI 2.0 (GTX 960).

If I run the game in fullscreen mode the resolution switches to 1440p as it should, but in windowed mode it always changes back to 2160p. Having switched to run all my games borderless windowed not long ago, the only solution is to set the desktop resolution to 1440p manually before launching DiRT Rally.

Would you share your TV model? Maybe we could dig up some info on it. Your desktop should run at 60Hz by the way, if it's capable of that.

Hey Meszes!
I had the same TV as yours, now upgraded to that 55" curved Samsung UE55HU7200UXXU.
I don't have nVidia and AMD seems not to care about hdmi 2.0 so I run it on HDMI 1.4, therefore I only get 60Hz on lower res[ [WIN 10, 2x Radeon 7850 on latest official drivers], so its UHD 30Hz on desktop for me. The remote allows me to check the TV res through the info button, that's how I know what the game sets it up to.
So once again, the game stays inthe desktop resolution in the fullscreen mode [and this referrs to the racing part of the game, not sure about the menus], and it does not matter what it's set up to in the settings. Sometimes if I forget to switch the desktop and I start playing UHD 30p, I go to the options [during race] and try to change it there again, but then it switches over to windowed mode on some low res [could be 1440, not sure].

I played WRC 4 no problem on that setup - did what it should in game, but in DIRT it just acts up.

Amd when it comes to the textures, I get the same problem as on the vid you posted.
Thanks for your attention!

Ah I see, the 30Hz desktop makes sense now. So the resolution change in-game from 4K to something lower doesn't work at all for you, for me only in fullscreen with an Nvidia card.

To make the desktop resolution change less painful before launching DR, I found this neat little util, that is free: HotKey Resolution Changer[funk.eu]
You can map any resolution to a hotkey. I've set the ones I use to Win-Num 1/2/3.

As for the corrupted textures for all of you guys, I hope AMD will roll out a new Catalyst driver fixing the issue.

This is exactly my problem, it happens to me with the Audi Quattro B group. I suspect the issue is GTX970 related then? I'm pretty sure the problem wasn't present on my Windows 7 installation (can't be 100% certain because I haven't played it that much before installing windows 10).

i7 4790K and GTX 970 on Win 7 and I have never seen that happen once.
Wooohooo! Köszönöm Meszes!
That little program of yours just put a big smile on my face... :)
It wasn't a big pain in the rear, but it definitely makes the whole experience more enjoyable, altough I was getting used to the whole drill. You know, you tell everyone to don't bother you, you set up the wheel, you set up the seat, you set up the resolution... A little bit like real rally - the driving became the shortest part of rallying... ;]
Thanks again!
Yes, we all have our own rituals before rallying. :)

You're welcome.
I have the same black box texture corruption when crashing into things, using this rig:

Corsair AX1200 PSU ll 3770K @ 4.5GHZ ll Gigabyte Titan X 1400/8000 ll Samsung 830 256gb SSD ll Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP7 Motherboard ll Corsair Dominator Platinum 2133 MHZ 16GB DDR3 Ram ll Win 7 64 bit

@takathetuq

That looks like a HANS device.... almost like your drivers body is jumping forward and leaving the camera in place.

Helo fellow drivers!

I don't know where to post this, so i will post it here....

I am quite disappointed with the game. Since the RX update was released that my game became unplayable. Show me corrupt textures. The roads are black as the sky and vegetation. I hope that with the next update of Finland everything is resolved. Thank you.

I have the same thing but not so much as you. This needs to be posted in the codemasters support forum, as it does not look like it's either something they are aware of, or it's an AMD problem. Hopefully new AMD drivers will fix that.
