What do the little symbols mean on the scoreboard?

I've seen little shields, crowns etc occasionally by names on the scoreboard in game after a stage, any idea or reference somewhere to what they mean?

Only thing I know is the shield which is some kind of V.I.P. representation. I heard through the grapevine that they help with content testing before it is released or some such, although I wouldn't want to bet on it. Let's just assume they help Codemasters in one way or another but are not employees of Codemasters. ( to the best of my knowledge, ofc )

The crown I've wondered about myself, first I thought friends, then ppl you're in a league with, then ppl who have completed an online event top 50 or something. A quick google search reveals nothing, so if anyone can shed some light it would be much appreciated.

Crown is for Early Access participants I believe, shield is VIP.

It does appear that the shield appears on the dev's names too.

Do you have any idea of the requirements for this? I also have the icon, but never got in touch with devs personally during the development of DR. Just wondering.

The crown actually says "host" or "owner" on mouseover in league lists. Then again everyone has it, so EA makes more sense.

Only given to Devs, and people who did some beta testing or visited the studio. Or a frequent contributor to the DiRT forums for the past couple of years

i see it says founder. not sure if thats for DR or for the league itself.

I had the little crown and now after the update it has gone away. I did participate in early access.I believe I purchased it 2 weeks after it was announced on Steam.

I wish I would've paid attention to when my crown icon showed up, I never played early access or even any online events until recently, but I do regularly get into the top 15-20 of them
