Anyone got good settings for the Logitech Momo Racing wheel?
Hi everyone! I want to buy this game, but I've learned that most sims are very hard to play without fiddling with the wheel settings first. And since I'm growing old and no longer feel like spending 2 days straight just to find playable settings, can someone please share the settings for this wheel?
Basically, if this wheel works OK and I can find the settings - I'll buy the game, otherwise I won't.

If you type 'momo' into the search box you will find a few discussions about your wheel.
Seen that, mostly issues and complaints over poor FFB implementation. Guess I'm gonna stick to the WRC series and road racing simulators.

You can buy it and thenyou have I think 2 hours playtime to refund it, can't remember. Might not be the case for an early access game.

You can refund EA games too.

Everything default works fine for the momo black

I plugged in a new Momo and tested it at Germany and Greece. I tested for about 20 minutes only, but I believe that was enough to find the strengths and weaknesses.

The problem with the Momo Force in modern sims is that its rotation is limited to 240°. Most wheels are being manufactured with much higher range of rotation (900° and more). So the Momo is always going to be sensitive.

The wheel detected right away in DiRT and I chose the Momo preset to begin with, then calibrated as per the inctructions on-screen.

I got the wheel to perform reasonably well after a bit of tweaking. It is still a bit sensitive under extreme counter-steering, though it is something that you might get used to. The settings I ended up with make the wheel behaviour fairly predictable.

FFB is mediocre compared to the G25, and I'm not sure whether this is a limitation of the wheel or of the game as it has been a long time time since I used a Momo. The Momo has only one FFB motor where modern wheels have two or more - so it was never going to feel the same, of course.

Below are the settings I used. You can tweak the forces to your own liking, but that will be a personal choice. Steering linearity is the main slider to fudge if you want to reduce or increase sensitivity. I also made a car setup tweak which helped in this regard: I softened the front roll bar. This seemed to help the Momo's sensitivity. I used the 2001 Ford Focus with no assists in headcam mode and was three seconds slower than my best time for the course I tested on. Not too shabby for a first run with an unfamiliar controller. The car was manageable on both tarmac and gravel. Driving the Lancia Sratos at Monte Carlo might prove to be more challenging

Good luck.

*I should probably make it clear that the Momo does not come close to the G25 in any regard, in DiRT Rally. If the Momo was all I had, I would consider upgrading.

If you can't be bothered to 'fiddle' with things, whether it be your wheel settings or whatever else, don't even consider any type of 'sim'. Just go play Mario Kart or something else.

I use a Momo and have been very successful so far. Follow these settings:

Thanks a lot!

If I was a serious sim racer I would definitely get a G27 or one of the middle-end Fanatec models (unless a new king of the hill had been released in the 5 years than I didn't touch my Momo wheel). But I'm not, so for now I just want to blow dust off my Momo and try a couple modern games (namely, Dirt Rally and Assetto Corsa). I don't have a dedicated sim racing workplace with a permanently mounted wheel or anything like that. Frankly, my strongest memory of racing with a wheel (I used to race LFS online a lot), is the pain in my back I get after 30 minutes behind the wheel.
But I digress. The point is, now that I've got my driver's license and bought a car, I want to at least try get back into sim games, and I really want Dirt to work for me.

Some of us are not serious sim racers, but have old momo wheels. Are we allowed to play this game?

LFS works well with Momo - but LFS lets you choose your rotation range regardless of the car's native range. For an aging sim, LFS still gets all the small details right. I haven't tried a Momo in Assetto Corsa but I imagine you will have more flexibility than in DiRT. I suppose Codemasters will approach this area of development differently in the future, as the 'one size fits all' approach is too unforgiving for a proper sim.
