Who is the king of Group B 4WD?
On paper, the Peugeot 205 T16 seems to outclass its competitors, but is it really the best car in its class? Is there any experts out there who have driven all the cars in Group B 4WD and know how to rank them (In Dirt Rally, not real life)? Thanks guys.

I have no idea but my favourite is the Audi Quattro, was able to win Masters championship with it and learned to drive it pretty balls to the wall... This isn't a helpful post perhaps, but it would take a lot of time/dedication in the Group B to buy and upgrade all of the vehicles.

I've driven them all, but only upgraded and ran a full championship in the Audi.

I'd just wait for the v2 handling update if I were you. It should be due this week.

Audi Quatttro, imo. Super grippy, yet easy drifting on both tarmac and offroad, and super fast car. You can just eat corners alive with it.

The Audi is great. But ever since the original CMR, I've always preferred the Lancia over it. Just because I dunno why. Perhaps that's just that nostalgia carried over to DR, so I -so far- also prefer it here. Perhaps I just haven't driven them all enough to really know. Tried the Peugeot, didn't really 'click' with it, atleast on the few go's.

The Puegot is the fastest one by a decent margin. Most of the vehicles are near equal in overall speed in Group B. The MG and Quattro are noticeably slower than the rest.

the audi available in the game is not the final evolution. Now the Ford RS200 was looking promessing with more advanced suspension but that was cut short. The Delta S4 is my favorite since it always has power regardless of low or high rev (supercharged and turbo charged). Sad thing, the S4 did not had the time to proove itself with the tragic accident of Toivonen and Sergio Cresto.

Quattro is much faster than the Metro. It requires a hyper-aggressive driving style though. It'd be quicker with a lot of well timed clutch kicks too. Keep that monstrous turbo spooled

When the Peugot 206 came out it beat all the other group b cars, i think it only had trouble beating the Ford RS200. There's a very interesting documentary made about the group b monsters, i think it's called "Too fast to race" or something like that.

The RS200 was a trainwreck. Bad transmission and slow engine. A beautiful car, but didn't even have time to be a competitive one.

I found the documentary i was talking about btw.

@ 52 min they say something about the RS200. It was a fast car but they had problems with handling if a stage changed from wet to dry gravel for example and slightly slower engine than the other group b's, so it wasn't a complete trainwreck.

Unluckily Ford didn't have the time to try it out and develop the car completely before they closed the doors for group b. If they had better crowd control on rallies in countries like spain we still might have group b today.

I have this DVD, and it has extensive information, but not all of it. Maybe "trainwreck" is a strong word, OK, let's say it was a "complicated" car. The RS200's engine also had a terrible RPM lag and the overall mechanics were still very unreliable. Maybe with more a couple of years, Ford would manage to improve the car. Maybe, because Ford has a very documented tendency of following bad ideas when it comes to racing.

This book is now weirdly expensive at Amazon probably for being out of print, but I really recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Group B: http://www.amazon.com/Group-Rise-Rallyings-Wildest-1983-1986/dp/3927458325/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1446043830&sr=1-1&keywords=group+b

in 1986 the audi s1 and the lancia s4 would be pretty much on par, but since we don't have the '86 version of neither of those...
lancia above audi, and peugeot above lancia.
peugeot and lancia seem to be the '85 version. audi sport quattro (the first one with the short wheelbase) is late '84.
would be frickin awesome to get all the '86 versions.
audi s1 with 600hp
lancia s4 with 560hp

i'm close to drooling now...

In my opinion, the Quattro and the MG are the slowest, with the quattro more on the understeer and the MG on the ovesteer side.
The Lancia and the Ford are in the middle. The Ford is a bit more on the oversteer side and the Lancia is sometimes over- sometimes understeering.
And the peugoet is the fastest. good brakes(not as good as the quattro but way better than in the lancia) and best acceleration(if you keep the boost/rpm up-> here helps the clutch). controlable oversteer and a short car, so you dont need much space when going sideways.
I love the Lancia, but when I need to be fast, I choose the Peugeot.
