The most realistic way of driving.
Hello, what are the best settings for dirt to make it as realistic as possible? I've played some of it on my friends pc and he had abs and stuff like traction control off so it made the game harder but do they drive like that irl? I just want to configure my game as close to real life rally as possible. Thanks for your time everyone ! :steamhappy:

tc and sc are off, not sure about abs though
the thing is you dont want to trigger abs everytime you brake, its just a safety measure

I think you should play without any driving aids.

Are you using a wheel? I would suggest all driving aids off, but keep ABS on if you are using a controller. It may seem harder at first but it will make you a better, an ultimately faster, driver.

Yeah I am using a wheel. But I don't know if I configured something wrong but it always spins fast left right and repeats while driving.

I had been having a long learning curve with this title, when i got good enough, i turned off all the assists, and wow... EASIER???!? ( as a veteran of cm2-dirt3)

Turn ALL aids off, force the incar view, turn off the entire HUD, use manual sequential gears, enable clutch override. I think that's about it. This will also give you more dollars for every race. ;) It's a win win.

Definitely turn off the arrows that pop-up. It allows you to use your full eye-sight for the road and full hearing for the pace-notes.

What about the FOV option. By default it is set to 0.5

That could be the result of a too high self aligning torque value in FFB settings, so try lowering it.

That depends on a lot of things: screen size, view distance from screen, in-game camera option. For example dashboard cam view is not affected by that slider at all. There are online FOV calculators or you could just use the value you see best fit.

As rules of thumb, increase FOV if...
1. you intuitively feel too slow and brake too late
2. you sit closer and/or the screen is bigger
3. you feel disoriented in the twisty sections

Put 900 (or 1080) degrees to your wheel profiler + in game soft lock-setting ON. Then you'll have realistic wheel rotation which changes from 540 to 720 to 900 (to 1080) depending what car you're using.

540degrees: 2010s, Rallycross cars
720degrees: Group B 4WD: Audi quattro, Ford rs200, 1980s RWD, Group A, F2 Kit Car, 2000s, Hillclimb: Audi S1, Peugeot 405
900degrees: 1960s, 1970s, Group B 4WD: Mg metro, Peugeot 205, Lancia S4, Group B RWD, Hillclimb: Peugeot 205
(1080degrees: 1970s Fiat 131 Abarth)

Authentic transmissions choices are:

- H-shifter+clutch: 1960s, 1970s, Group B 4WD, Group B RWD, 1980s RWD, Group A: Lancia delta integrale, Hillclimb cars
- Direct H-shifter (no clutch needed): Group A: Ford escort cosworth, Subaru 1995
- Sequential stick: F2 Kit Car, 2000s: Ford Focus '01, 2010s, Rallycross cars
- Paddleshifter(s): 2000s: Subaru '01

Authentic handbrake-option, no useful handbrake with:
confirmed: 1970s Stratos, all Group B 4WD cars, all Hillclimb cars
(not sure of: rest of the 1970s cars, Group B RWD: Lancia 037)

This doesnt make any sense because every single car I drove only turned 90 degrees each side no matter what I set on profiler

If you mean the visual steering wheel in the cockpit, then the reason that they only turn 90 degrees either side is because CM couldn't make the arm animation steer more than that. It's only a limitation in the animation system. They've promised to make the visual steering wheel match your physical steering wheel if you choose not to render arms in the graphical options.

either way my own wheel just locks on 90 degrees even if I set more on profiler
