Training course?
I might be just not very talented, but can we have a training mode in which we can get some driving recommendations like "Entering curve to fast!", "Handbreak now to drift on ideal line" and can drive as long as we want outside of any competition and event? I would like to just drive as long as much as I want on a track.

It doesn't even has to be a track, some training area would be good enough as well. For example a sand / gravel pit with some wood next to it. Just something to drive around with the different cars and learn how to drift properly.

+1

Since it's a hard game and today any stupid, run-on-rails game has a training ground, I think this is really necessary.

Choose a stage with a variety of difficulties and driving, driving, driving, driving, driving, driving, driving, driving, driving, driving, driving, driving...

You will see improvement in driving and times and gradually learn to drive a rally car.

Yeah they really need to spend time adding a "how to drive a car" tutorial, because there aren't numerous resources online indexed by google and brought up by a simple search or anything.

Very weak argument. I chose to manufacture a microwave oven, and of course I don't need to print an instructions manual, the customers can find some online tutorial and learn how to use it.

@Meszes thanks, looks like other people want that as well, good. :)

I wrote that I might not be talented, not stupid. I'm playing DCS as well and flying an aircraft is a *little* more complex than driving a rally car. If you read my posting again, brain on, you realize that I'm asking for a practicing area, something I can play, something to try, not manuals or videos.

There are for example missions in DCS like a guided landing approach. You get told when you come to high or low in. Something like that - guidance - is what I want. Trust me, I can read and use Google...

Seems unlikely to happen in DR.

That would be true, if budgets and time were unlimited. Unfortunately, you're forgetting that this game is developed by a small team, not by a team of hundreds. When the budget is limited, there must be a focus. The focus here is driving, not learning to drive.

The game is a game about rallying, not about teaching a player to rally. Leave that for youtube and the drivers themselves.

I think perhaps an open version of the rallycross tracks would be nice? No barriers locking off different sections of the track, no start-finish line, no time, no AI, just driving around. Would also be awesome if we could drive the rally cars on it (and on rallycross normally, because who doesn't want Group B rallycross?).

This wouldn't cost any money, and shouldn't take too much time at all, everything is there, the just need to delete the barriers.

Group B RX would be fun, but I want to see RX for '60s Minis.

They're very small and tend to lock-up under brakes; that would provide plenty of overtaking, while the lack of horsepower would promote drafting and careful throttle control. You don't need mega horsepower to have fun racing; all you need is passing and crashes. And Minis could provide both in bulk.

Lancia Fulva will add more fun to the mix.

True that. I've been doing Masters in a Fulvia the last few days, I've really come to love it. They're a difficult car work with; the default setup feels awful, but once you've sorted out the gearbox and suspension they feel every bit as good as the Mini. If not better.
