Legend Edition Differences
Hi, I came to buy the PC version of Dirt Rally today, and whilst I knew they were releasing a console version in the new year, I was surprised to see that there is also a pre-release of a new PC version of the Legend Edition. But that's all I can find, no description of what will be different etc. Does anyone know what will be different in the PC version please, and whether it's worth paying for the current version or will it be dropped from support when the new release comes out?

Well this is my hunch and I am trying to find more detail. But Dirt rally was orginally started in Early access to see how many people they could get of interest. The game has made a lot of stride in development since it started and Legend edition is probably the intented name of the game.

First i've heard of it. Maybe they'll be able to give us some information in the next roadbook

Mmm, not just me unsure about it then. It's appeared on Amazon (UK) as pre-release for Xbox, PS4 and PC in April but nothing to clarify if it's the same game with all the updates and if I were to buy it now that I'm essentially getting the same game and updates will continue to flow. If it was a little less I'd just go for it but it's a full on £28 which is a bit heavy if it expires in 3 months.

Description on Amazon Italy says it has:

- DLC " Fully loaded Mini Pack "
- Documentary " Colin McRae Rally Legend "

Thanks Alf, so hopefully the Mini pack will be a purchase-able add on at release time with the main game just being the same.

♥♥♥♥, why choosing the DLC route
i expected them to be better than that

well I would not start speculating too much on that. Looked at the amazon site and google helped me translate it to:

DLC "Fully Loaded Mini Pack", the timeless Mini 1071 Cooper S

which, to my knowledge, is already in the game.

hm I hope so. I dont regret spending bucks on the game

Bit the bullet and gone with it. It would be a little underhand to do the dirty on existing owners of the game. Figured the existing version might disappear from the Steam store if I didn't get it bought as a sales push for the newly branded pre-release.

Are you kidding? They had no idea what to do when EA ended. The community outcry for DLC has been insane - We want more and more DR.

more content is fine, but not if I have to pay for it :)
expansions with big additions are reasonable (like it was 10 years ago), but i dont want a project cars where I have to pay for every car and every track. The main game was already expensive.

37 games owned, 46 DLC owned. Do you like to work for free?

DLC on the game RUSE count twice for whatever reason, also many free updates are counted as DLC, Shogun 2 was a bundle and I think although only 8 DLC exist, it shows about 15 in my library. Bioshock 2 DLC was for free. Wargame has 3 DLCs which are in fact free updates, there are non to buy. Do I really have to justify that all?
I dont expect them to work for free, even though many other studios are doing it (for example Valve with L4D2 or, again Wargame). Its just that it often starts small and then keeps snowballing like Project Cars. It just doesnt feel good if I have to pay for small extras, and cars are especially crucial. New record in the new car which costs 2 bucks? Pay to win...

Im willing to pay for big chunks of additional content though, but I think that a DLC should only be released atleast some months after the official release.

DiRT was released in December and the console version is due in April. Is that what you mean by 'some months' or do you mean a longer period than that?
