Why are R4 cars so boring?
On their highest gear it feels super slow. And drifting seems near impossible due to the crap steering and low engine power. Is it just me? Last car I drove for a while was Peugeot in group B (4WD).

They are for lower budget drivers and teams, and those cars retained really much from their production siblings,R4 cars are actually at group N level when it comes to speed and engineering. So that's basically what your Evo X and Impreza STi that you drove everyday would be driven like on rally stages with some necessary customlizations.

ah okay thanks for the reply. weird how they cost so much and are near the end category in car selection. Made me expect the performance of the cars to up a bit from group B.

Nothing will out-do the Group B cars in terms of raw speed.
Everything newer will have better power delivery - better power curves - better gearboxes and all the handling essentials but will always be capped at 300hp

They are indeed a bit expensive, but by the time I got this update I was already flooded with credits and can't find a way to use them,so not really much of a problem for me.These car are still intereting to drive and hard to make the best out of them.

I wouldn't want to drift with the cars anyway, you lose to much time on that. Try going down one more gear before entering a corner or mess around with the gear ratios.

Having hopped back into the game and just giving up on the Peugeot Group B (only car I ever really drove prior to physics changes), I bought the R4 Lancer to refamiliarize myself with this game and thought it was a really fun car once you get the weight reduction. Just unlocked both Turbos and it definitely makes a huge difference (too bad it unlocked right before Sweden where I actually wish it had less power as I learn those stages).

Do you have any upgrades unlocked yet? The car felt like a snail a few hours ago, but now it actually feels really nice. Like Rock says, don't mess with handbrake except for a maybe a few certain turns -- The Lancer at least loves to just whip into a turn naturally if you go down an extra gear.

I may be talking out of my ass, but that was my experience today after not playing since EA.

I'm not a fan, either.

I find them disappointing and a little frustrating to drive. They perform perfectly well if you drive them within the limit, but when you reach for that final 10% things start to fall apart. And no matter how fast they are, that somehow spoils the experience.

And yet strangely I really enjoy Group A. Cars like the Lancia Delta and WRX feel like a perfect middleground between 2000s finesse and rough-edged '80s power. They're somehow much more enjoyable to drive, and feel much more capable even though they're arguably built to very similar rules.

I wouldn't call them boring. They're quite fast for a production car, and after dominating them, you'll have learned a lot about braking.

they are very easy to drive so seem a bit boring.i dont mind them.

I don't find them easy to drive at all. If anything I have to deliberately restrain myself, otherwise I tend to overdrive them. Getting them around a stage isn't too difficult, for me the difficulty lies in doing so without overstressing the rather limp-wristed production archetecture.

Group B is beastly and dangerous, every other class is going to feel underpowered after that.

I kind of like R4. Maybe beacuse I used to drive a Lancer (even if it was the OZ Rally Edition and not an Evo) and a friend used to drive a Subaru WRX. Driving them a bit conservatively might be boring, but getting the most out of them is not.

I drive a Lancer OZ Rally! It's a manual and I really enjoy it, that's why I like the Evo X in R4.

I kind of miss mine. It was totalled in a hailstorm, I drove it for another year and a half, during which I got rear-ended twice (lots of paint transfer, no serious damage), and then the air conditioner died. Fixing it would have cost a lot more than its value at that point, so I got a new Prius C. Not as fun to drive, but not as slow as people think, and easier on the wallet.

My Lancer went through tires faster than any other car I've had, and also broke front sway bars twice in 12 years. I wasn't that crazy with it either; it's not like I took it rallying in Finland and made 100m jumps or anything :D
