I want to play RBR, need instructions on how to do it right.

Hey Guys!

I know there's some die hard Richard Burns Rally fans out here, and given the game is acclaimed as overall classic, I hope you don't mind me asking about it @DR forum.

Could any of you that knows RBR well could instruct me when it comes to which modded ver should I install, and how to do it right, please?
I'm on a Win 10, crossfire 2x Radeon 7850, playing on a 4k tv with Logitech G27. I remember trying to get into the game a while ago, but I couldn't launch it in anything other than 4:3 screen ratio, I had problems with installation and I gave up.

has all mods and tracks built in ,and install is easier than any of the Rallyesim RSRBR mods.
It turned out a bit buggy,but has all tracks and cars that the community made for it,including the excellent Czech rally tracks.

remember to install it outside the default "Program" path to ensure write-access to it's sub-directories. It is a Windows-XP_era game, after all!

You can find a lot of mods online. there is a shifter Mod if you like to use your H-shifter+clutch. Widescreen mod....

I use the RSRBR mod, It was a bit of work to get it going, but I'm happy now. There are a few problems now: Rallyschool doesn't work, replays crash, the ffb on the normal cars is bad.

I try to only use the ngp_ cars(next generation physics), in these the ffb is great and they feel far better. There are some strange things like starting the car(go to N and push the throttle).

Installing the RSRBR mods isn't really that difficult, maybe your options is easier however.

Here's how you install it (with links). I recommend only to play with NGP mod (Next Gen Physics). It's more realistic than vanilla RBR or RSRBR.

How you get the game is up to you. I'm not sure if there are any legal digital downloads or if you even can buy the game anymore.

installing RSRBR is not hard. But I still had some problems. I needed to set the solution to the full solution of my monitor or I would end up with a black screen(adjustable in the RichardBurnsRally.ini). I needed to install the widescreenmod to scale the image to 16:9. Then I had crashs when something in the background was going on, So I did set the game to Fullscreen:false(adjustable in the RichardBurnsRally.ini). And used "borderless gaming" to get it back to fullscreen(start Borderless gaming, start rbr, tap out and add rbr to favorites, right click on it and check "Full screen" and "hide windows taskbar"). I use the H-shifter too, but when starting a stage, I need to have it in N or the engine will stall. and I have to wait right before I can start to get into first gear, because sometimes the game had not recogniced the clutch before recognicing the shifter and the car would jump and stall.

The clutch doesn't recognize until you can press the throttle and start reving your engine. The gears however works for some reason anyway (it's the H-shifter plugins fault, not RSRBR's fault).

Dont forget that there are tons of great BTB tracks around... you just have to find them :D

BTW... Is there any archive sites that has tracks collected from different track makers / countries that still have working download links available. We have (atleast was then working when i last time downloaded some stages after i installed latest RS-mod) one archive were we have collected most of the know Finnish BTB tracks.

Does others have these treasure chest somewhere? Altought i already have over 100 stages on BTB folder, there is always room for more... specialy Tarmac stages beacause they are not someting that Finn track makers like to do :P

Hmm...I may try that some time. But I can't remember installing an NGP mod. I just installed RSRBR2016(maybe the track pack but i'm not sure) and then had access to some normal and some NGP cars. Then the Rallyschool jumping problems occured. After that i installed the car packs(maybe the track pack before that??).

The NGP pack is seperate pack that you have to install before you can drive those cars. If you dont install it, cars feel like they have tarmac tyres on ice.
