I found a joystick to be to light in force....and it slides around....
So I did put it on an old pc case next to me and secured it with tape....then I used multiple rubber bands from the stick to each "foot", to increase centering forces and wrapped some leather around it....it works very nice and feels good.

Thanks for that info, given me a lot to think on before I go digging around to find that stick
Er... you didn't need to go into so much detail.
Maybe that I have the cleanest mind the whole PC gaming community?
:)
If you have a Joystick / Flightstick, use it... and yes, it's analog input.
Ok thanks.
And... HAA!!! I BLOODY LOVE ALF.
Grew up with that show, and seeing your profile pic took me right back. I even had the trading card set that had his Melmac baseball cards in it.
Usually each module is just 1 aircraft, done to perfection, so it can be a bit expensive. But for the free base game you get a free plane, the SU25, which is kind of a russian version of the A-10 warthog tankbuster plane used by allied forces for the last 40-odd years.
With that you can get a good idea of whether these sims are for you.
To suggest a nice stick to try without spending too much, I got a thrustmaster T-flight HOTAS X, which you can buy brand new for around £30-40.
Sure it doesn't have all the bells and whistles you would get with a more expensive setup, but it doesn't have the hefty price tag either.
For the price it is an excellent stick, and does have everthing you need to get you going. I have had mine for a few years now and since I don't play flight sims a whole lot it works out just right. I couldn't justify spending much more than that for the use I get from it.
If you prefer WW2 flight sims, I suggest wings of prey to start, which you can get cheap now. The only problem being the online servers and DLC no longer working. For the price though it will give you a good idea of whether you like the genre or not.
If you want something even more intense and realistic than wings of prey, then of course it's IL-2 Sturmovic 1946. It's pretty dated in terms of visuals now, but is second to none in terms of being a full-blown sim.
Also, I did set up my stick now as the handbrake, and it worked perfectly.
The only problem I have is that with my table, wheel and chair set where they are, I can't seem to get the stick into the right place for my hand to fall onto it quickly, so I had to go back to using a button on the wheel for now, until I can think of some way of making room closer to the gear lever.
Thanks for the info everyone, it's been very helpful.
