Manual transmission, bunch of questions about it
First I would like to say that I have used sequential shifter for a year now. I see a lot of people saying that autoclutch is very slow, and using sequential is slowing you down. That might be true, I'm just too amateur to achieve clean runs with the clutch. This morning I've been testing different styles, paddle shifting, H-shifting, H-shift + clutch, and of course sequential, which feels the most natural to me, because I'm so used to it.
Is there a difference timewise using H-box (without clutch) over sequential? I squeezed few faster sectors with H-box, but I can't tell if I just had better driving lines. Is H-box and sequential shifter equally fast with autocluth?

Actually here's just one question, not bunch. Im sorry.

I don't think it makes a diference.....the difference is when using the clutch +H-box.....shifts can fail(need to re-shift), but it could be faster and you can shift with power on.....this makes you even faster, but it damages the gearbox more. Porkhammer said it can make you 5 s faster in germany....I'm not consistent enough to name a number ;).

Thanks for your reply, thats what I thought. I didn't know that powershifting is that efficient. Live and learn, maybe it's time to start practising new styles.

Yeah sadly powershifting gives a huge advantage over the automatic clutch. I haven't found that it does any significant damage to the gearbox either when doing weeklies and monthlies, so... once you learned to powershift (H-box + clutch without releasing throttle for shifts), there is no going back.

I see! It's unbelievable. For example Paskuri's first section and long straight in germany, holy ****. It's so overpowered it feels like cheating. I killed many of times already with sloppy driving. Just need to get used to it. Somehow I get it now why I always underachieved in germany. It feels wrong that this doesnt hurt your gearbox one bit.

I'm just wondering if automatic clutch is equally slow in all classes or are modern cars more competetive with a sequential comparing to "H-pattern" cars?

Shifting gears is done in a split second whether manual, semi automatic or automatic. Shifting gears will not lose or win a rally.

The Polo benefits a little from this seeing as its gearing with sequential shifting is incredibly slow. It's not so noticable on gravel and snow, but the difference in Germany is insane. Same for the Subaru 2001 and Citroën C4. The rest of the 2000's and 2010's cars aren't as bad, in my experience. The kitcars also benefits from powershifting; don't know why their sequential shifting has been made so incredibly slow!

In reality, no. In Dirt Rally, yes. H-box + clutch combined with powershifting gives you an advantage. Some sequential cars changes gear extremely slowly in DR.

Ok. I use sequential changes gear.

I really would like to see dogbox in some cars, so you would be able to shift without a clutch but it would stall and work otherwise with clutch. Like in a real rallycars nowadays and i think most of group A cars have a classified dogbox?

is this only relevant to the older cars(pre 2000)

i always used sequential, but a friend uses the H gate with auto clutch, and i found in group A/B it was slightly faster shifting than the flappy paddles, but i still prefered flappies, but then going to H gate and clutch, on the same stage i was over 10 seconds faster!

so iv spent the last week learning how to drive again, n started setting top 10 times, however, in cars that were designed for sequential(2000 onward) i dont see any difference in the shift times, well minimal anyways, so i revert back to flappies for the soob n focus.

i do have to say i find this game more rewarding now using H gate and clutch on group A/B, group A is now me favourite car class over the early WRC

if you have AC, its a good way to get used to the H gate, get the 700BHP hill climb delta and IOM track n enjoy ha ;)

Well, I upshift with the H-shifter, Down Shift with the Sequential and the rest of the time it Automatic with Manual Clutch.
