Dirt not recognizing xbox controller

I have the driver installed and updated, but the game isn't recognizing the input. Any ideas?

Game works out of the box with 360 controller. I am not sure about xbox one gamepad support.

Yeah, all controller support is inside big picture mode now. If you want to play with a controller, learn how to use big picture mode

I enabled XBox mode for the controller and it still doesnt work for me.

Brock Steel's suggestion worked for me. Big Picture Mode is how you have to play. If that doesn't work, make sure your driver is up to date.

Why not get a cheap XBox 360 controller and use that ?

Big picture mode will let you emulate any controller, and xbox 360 controller is default supported usually anyways. Basically big picture adds another layer of emulation, you can also adjust the dead zone. Big Picture mode is just the goto if you want to play with a controller.

XBoc One controller is what comes with Oculus. Odd that a VR game that supports controllers wouldn't support a controller that comes with one of the top VR systems out there. Big Picture mode didnt seem to do anything different. Dirt doesnt even have greyed out options for setting up a controller. Is there some kind of settings I would need to setup in Big Picture?

Have u tried disabling generic controller thing in steam? (Steam->settings->controller-> generic controller-> uncheck generic controller settings-box)

Is xbox360 controller preset available in game, have u tried to choose that if it allows? Might work just fine as xbox360 controller.


Why shouldn't xbox one controller work on this game since this was released for xbox one console too?

Figured it out. My USB hub died between games. Played Borderlands just fine, loaded Dirt and it wouldnt work, assumed it was Dirt's fault. Thanks for the assist, Im sliding sideways off cliffs just fine now, lol.
