Game not remembering resolution settings?

I find the game is sometimes setting 1440x900 on starting, which is lower than what I normally use, so I have to put it back up.

The weird thing is, if I exit the game and restart it, SOMETIMES it has remembered the proper resolution. So I think good, it's fixed. And then I play again another time, and it's decided to revert back to 1440x900 again. The game seems to really like that resolution for some reason?

Is this a bug?

Sometimes my game goes into windowed mode with lowest resolution possible. Have to spam Alt + Enter to make it work again and change resolution then.

I changed resolution and fullscreen in hardware config in actual dirt game and in my documents problem solved :)

I've noticed this happens to me when I don't use my G27 pad to navigate the menus or dont exit the game using the wheel pad. It's just as annoying as alt-tab'ing , ill lose my degress of rotation. I dont even risk typing in names of setups during events since it will probably reset my DoR.

The config in my documents i had to set properties of it to read only ! Yes very annoying

Thanks baddog, I've set my hardware config to read only as well -- hoping it prevents Dirt from reverting to 1024x768 now.

After your post I tried this, it worked until today when I'm amazed to find it's back to 1440x900 and the file is no longer read only. Weird.

Would be nice if this could be fixed.

Still working for me were you in game when you set to read only ? Make sure you exit game then do read only :) hope that works

Not sure actually. I've just done it again, without the game running.

We are talking about the same file right, hardware_settings_config.xml in the My Games/DiRT Rally/hardwaresettings folder.

had the same issue - changed 'firstboot' in the settings files(usercods/mygames/...) from true to false - game started remembering things

I found a potential fix: In your Documents\My Games\DiRT Rally\hardwaresettings, there should be a hardware_settings_config.xml. Search for the boolean "firstBoot" and set it to "false".

Re set "firstboot" to false and save then set properties for that file to read only , good to go start the game.
