Problem with Opel Kadett in 70's
Just finished 60's with A110 in master. Using Opel Kadett to run 70's, but can't even get no.1 in the open class. The car seems to be extraodinary slow, even slower than A110 (finished upgrade, and tried some tuning). Can any one tell me what's wrong with it?

Alpine is a rocket compared to Kadett. It was lighter and had more HP.
thanks, so basically using A110 in 60's just like cheating right? really don't know how can i get faster in 70's, i'm so shocked

You have made a good choice, the Opel is the best car in it's class IMO.

For Wales I use 5.139 final drive with 2.582 first gear and 1.049 5th gear, the other gears can be spread evenly between these bottom and top ratios.

Ride height -0.13 front and rear, dampers and springs very soft and soft in that order.

Diff as tight as it will go, but that might not suit your style of driving, so adjust to suit yourself.

Hmm...I think you'll find that the Opel is consistently the fastest of the 70's cars.

Hmm that is strange. I thought that your Opel was without any upgrades until I noticed you mentioned it was fully upgraded.
I found Opel suprisingly fast, such big jump from sixties to seventies. It might need a different driving than the Alpine.

Yep check leaderboards.
thanks guys all above, just one more silly question forgotten to post, i'm using keyboard and with automatic transimission, is that why i'm slow? is steering wheel a must to be fast enough to compete in faster cars? (really hate joystick , thats too small)

Hmmm...can't help. I've always had a wheel, and I use manual transmission, and set all assists off.

Like Jan said - you can go pretty spiffin fast playing on KB, manual would help I reckon though alongside clutch override. Also turning off assists may help, I've never had them on but I get the impression they could make the car less aggressive and possibly slower overall.
Thanks all above, doubt if i'm too slow because of the automatic transimission, especially in low speed corner, very very slow. I

You need good throttle control and manual transmission for this game. I strongly recommend getting a gamepad.

Beat the clubman with Kadett,mt helped a lot really, but still difficult to have fine control from keyboard. Will try a pad now.
get gears right and the diff you can get really good with the kadett just need to practice. the alpine is a rocket though.
