If you have played any other codemaster game first, try rebooting steam.

With PC2 on your list, check this post;

Try this: go into the Game preferences (inside Profile options) and change the transmission from whatever you have to "Manual H Pattern + Clutch or Sequential" (the last before Automatic).
Then go back onto the controls menu (inside the Options & Extras menu) and you should see "gear 1" to "gear 7" and "reverse gear".

G29's shifter don't have a seventh gear, that's why I suggested the "Manual H Pattern + Clutch or Sequential" transmission option.

Edit: re-reading your problem, I may also suggest that you make sure that your pc has the g29's drivers and that your pc recognizes it's input [do it from the control panel].
If something's wrong, unistall and reinstall the Logitech gaming Software. I used to do that when my DFGT got wrongly recognized as a Driving Force.

If you are new to this game, 2 more things:
.
When you launch the game and it reaches the splash screen that says ‘press start to enter’ you need to use a button on the wheel or the return/enter key (enter with left arrow) on KB. Using the normal enter key or mouse will delete you previous wheel configuration save and will require rebinding the wheel to game.

Some players were having problems if they remapped the pause button on the wheel, cannot remember it it was Logitech or Thrustmaster wheels.

Thank you everyone for your replies and time. Actually CarDr's solution worked. The Project Cars 2 modifies the registry even when you delete the game it doesn't help and you have to modify it as in the post. Unbelievable. I was going crazy. So if anyone has this problem. It's because of Project Cars 2!

I'm happy that your problem was solved, you should tag CarDr's as a solution then (the green checkmark)

yeah for sure.
On the other side tho, g29 RPM LED doesn't work in Dirt. I suppose there is a workaround as well for that. Did you guys try anything that actually works. The Fanatec doesnt work for me.

I have Fanatec wheels, not sure about the G29 with Fanleds but there is a couple of things you have to do for Fanaleds.

First go to Documents> my games> dirt rally> hardware settings> config xml. Open with word pad, near the bottom you will find <motion_platform>. Change the lines under that to

<motion_platform>
<dbox enabled="false" />
<udp enabled="true" extradata="3" ip="127.0.0.1" port="30500" delay="1" />
<fanatec enabled="false" pedalVibrationScale="1.0" wheelVibrationScale="1.0" ledTrueForGearsFalseForSpeed="true" />
</motion_platform>
<controls neutralTimeToShift="0.25" />
</hardware_settings_config>

Be sure to change extradata from 0 to 3 or the rev lights will be on full all the time.
If you have this correct, open Fanaleds –select dirt rally in game profile and select ‘save settings to activate profile’. This should have your LED screen reading MPH or KPH.

• If you want the rev lights to work, you need to open the advanced menu in Fanaleds for ‘car settings’, select a car (default if you want) and enter your RPM settings for RPM first- yellow leds (value must be above 0 or all rev LEDs will be on full all the time), RPM second- red leds, RPM third- blue leds, RPM last- desired red line, leds will flash. Be sure to save for the numbers to register.

You can create multiple car saves, but you must select the one you want in the main Fanaleds hardware screen. Most other sims will send the car id through telemetry output allowing Fanaleds to auto-select the correct car profile- Dirt rally does not.

Thanks a lot, I will give it a shot. I guess all we've got left is to wait for Dirt 2 in February if I'm not mistaken! Should be good!

Thanks for your help.

However I've noticed when I enter your code for the leds, I lose all motion on my NLR motion platform v3. Why is this and how can I prevent loss of motion?

You can have more than one line for udp and port number. For example this is needed for Fanaleds.
<udp enabled="true" extradata="3" ip="127.0.0.1" port="30500" delay="1" />

Add an additional line to match your motion device with the proper port, extra data, and delay numbers- above or below the existing line. The web site for your device should have that info if you don't remember what it was before you changed it.

Something like this
<udp enabled="true" extradata="3" ip="127.0.0.1" port="30500" delay="1" />
<udp enabled="true" extradata="x" ip="127.0.0.1" port="xxxxx" delay="x" />

I can;t remember what the original default numbers were, but you could delete that file and the game will create a new one with all default settings. You would then need to set all of your graphics setting within the game menu if you chose this options.

Edit:
I believe the default line for motion was
<udp enabled="true" extradata="0" ip="127.0.0.1" port="20777" delay="1" />
if that is what worked for your motion rig. Codemasters display rig used a DBox.

There is a shared file at Fanaleds that has some of the vehicle profiles if needed,

If one wants to use motion with Fanalabs, for example, would you plug in any different values in that file?

According to this thread
https://steamcommunity.com/app/310560/discussions/0/1639789306572271487/
you want the line
<udp enabled="true" extradata="3" ip="127.0.0.1" port="10011" delay="1" />
for your Next Level Racing V3 Motion Platform.

.....................................

As Fanalab (not Fanaleds) is still in beta, I don't know how much support or what it offers for this game. Have not tested Fanalab, do not know what port numbers it uses with this title.

With Fanalab and Fanaleds trying to do the same, you do not want both running at the same time. If Fanalab and Fanaleds use different port numbers, you might want to delete the Fanaleds line
<udp enabled="true" extradata="3" ip="127.0.0.1" port="30500" delay="1" />
or at least change the enabled="true" to enabled="false" in that line when using Fanalab.

You should get the best answers regarding Fanalab from the web site you DL'ed from
https://forum.fanatec.com/categories/fanalab

If any two devices require the same port number but different extradata or delay number(s), you are likely to run into a conflict. In that case, you should see if one of those devices cab use an alternative port number with this game.
