Handbraking...
this is damn near impossible and my hands are killing me trying to be able to handbrake turn correctly by using the paddle shifter as my handbrake button for starters because it rotates with the wheel it just makes the turn a fail for that reason alone and thats if your hand is the correct location in the first place

then i tried the clutch pedal as the handbrake, but my head gets so messed up, but its actually the best result, my mind just cant cope with not pressing the clutch in order to change gear

my poor wrist is bloody hurting trying to achieve decent handbrake turns without a actual handbrake and i dont have a flight stick to try and mimiick one and im not even convinced that would be good enough anyway really

apart from this everything is fine i just know this is my primary problem and why i cannot achieve the cornering i know damn well i can do

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr (ouch)

i use as a handbrake G25 wheels left side "horn" button works like charm.

if memory serves me right G25 has the 4 buttons on the gearbox which might have been better no thing for the g29
I also use the right paddle for handbrake on my G920. Because I have the shifter on the left (British, you see) my right hand stays on the wheel. I want to be able to handbrake and shift gears at the same time without having to fumble with thumb buttons.

You can't use the clutch pedal, as you need the cluth in to handbrake properly. I sometimes find I need to slow down for a hairpin, shift down, rev the engine, tap the handbrake and then release the clutch all in about 2 seconds. I need three feet for this. If I had a separate handbrake I'd need three arms too.

A handbrake control mounted on the gear stick could be good, a trigger or something similar so you can combine these actions. You might have trouble coordinating both, though. You might also end up ripping FWD cars out of gear when using the handbrake to drag yourself around a tight corner with the power still on.

aye same here, also using that right shift paddle as well...

but its probably that increased feedback that is killing my hands, palms, and wrist so much, but it not the same without them at those levels, i just see a slide rather than feel the slide, all that 150% feedback options means i can really tell when the car is still pulling and when its exited the corner properly.

that last bit dont make sense you shouldnt be pulling the handbrake whilst gearing anyway...

PS when i tried the clutch pedal as the hanbrake i switched the profile to wheel/shifter without a clutch the problem was being a real life driver i was dipping the clutch when i was shifting :)

but that way it works, quite well tbh, but dangerous when you go get back in your real life car. what i need is a analouge handbrake.

im running around the wales sections all day for my real life rally course next year in wales...

Logitech G290

Here`s how i do it . I have a Logitech G29 and the Logitech Driving Force H-Shifter. The shifter is on the right hand side of the wheel, mounted to a WheelStand PRO DELUXE V2 and i have the INGAME Handbrake, bound to the LEFT PADDLE.. I shift using the H-Shifter on ALL Cars using Man Gears. So i can shift with the Right Hand and Steer and Handbrake using the Left Hand.

It makes for interesting crashes :steamhappy:

yea im doing same thing but im also UK like the guy above, so it feels wierd if i do it your way around... ;)

Buy a handbrake from for example prosim.no or the new thrustmaster sparco handbrake. I also played dirt rally with a button as the handbrake, and it really sucks. Playing dirt rally, rbr etc with a real handbrake (i bought one from prosim) is such a new level of racing. It is a lot better than pushing a button...

You can clutch kick the car and or if you have a joystick laying around then assign the e-brake to that.
I just tried switching to a sequential tensmition for my 2001 Impreza. I kept stalling it under braking with the H-shifter as the car isn't meant to behave like that. The problem now is I don't have a clutch, the handbrake seems to automatically clutch kick or something which is wierd and I'm struggling to get used to it, having spent so long on a proper manual transmition.

The other problem is where to assign the handbrake. I had it on the B button, next to my right thumb but it's not all that easy to reach when truning. I tried assigning 4th gear to the handbrake but that's wierd to use.

I think I'll use some polymorph (plastic pellets which you melt in hot water and mould be hand) to make a frame over which I can strach some elastic bands and turn the H-shifter into a spring-loaded sequential shifter.

It would be really handy if the wheel had a USB hub for its inputs rather than RS-232 or whatever it is. We could hook up differnent shifters or handbrakes with ease without having to go all engineer on it.

Update
I didn't mess around with polymorph, I did this

im not tryna be a ♥♥♥♥ but leik, u dunt need handbrake xd, but then again i use rwd, ive tried with 4wd and kinda did ok but that was with hillclimb. Left foot breaking my dude. and weigh transfer, i barely use handbrake
You don't need the handbrake in an RWD if you can drive it properly, this is true. In a FWD or 4WD you do. Try taking the hairpin cliff in Greece in a 306 without using the handbrake. Actually don't I already know you'll end up rolling down the cliffside.

Update on the sequential maguffin - I use it as the handbrake and wipers (down and up) and padles for shifting in a sequential car.
