Is drifting faster or slower
So I have been trying to do rally cross champonships and not only is every car physically faster than mine they also drift which seems to speed them up. Now I've tried drifting and become good at it I have tried slowly taking every corner yet these Ai are always like 2 laps ahead of me it doesnt make sense. These Ai also constantly ram me off the road while I can't move them at all they dont lose any positions on jokers while I consistently get put in dead last it doesnt make sense

First thing is, the AI's are upgraded, so you're slower until your car is upgraded as well. Drifting is slow in rallycross, so try not to break traction even if it's controllable. AI cars are notoriously stable, so I bump off of them for cornering sometimes. I don't feel sorry for them :)

Don't do a whole lot of rx, mostly just dailies, mid pack or worse, when there is one. Controlled tight drifting is good, drifting way out no good, you'll be undercut. As far as starts,ai has no issue taking you out. Will also bang you in the turns. If I can get under them, using them as a berm works nicely once in a while. Never had a puncture doing it. Plenty of those every other way.

thumbs up Marley on using ai for cornering.

That's what they do IRL also. Urgent: Stay inside. Brake early, don't leave room inside. Cut corners but just with 2 wheels!

AI doesn't drift in DiRT Rally, they powerslide. Drifting is slower than powersliding, and most probably even slower than taking corner without any sliding at all.

Try to avoid drifting ..when tyres spin with no traction....you loose obviously some time. If caught in sliding, shift to higher gear and immediatly back to lower to regain traction.. I don't know if this is the right method, but at least it could work many times with me. In Norway the first turn is typically the on the AI take large and bump you out. I don't use the ideal race line and keep tight on the corner, bypassing all of them there each time,..while trying to avoid sliding.

How do you powerslide?

It is much easier for me to do it than explaining properly how to do it. Your best bet would be watching some videos or reading about 'powerslide'.
